I was there when Hugh Millen pulled a Brian Hoyer at the end of the Donkeys game in 1991...

I remember that game. Each team was trying to lose. The Patsies vs. the Dolts December 1981 Stupor Bowl for the rights to draft "Game Day"...oh the memories
When SF traded for 3 I immediately thought it was 5 QBs in 5 picks. I'm sticking with that tonight, the demand will cause a huge rush to get the final QB.
JAC - Lawrence
NYJ - Wilson
SF - Jones
ATL - Lance
CAR - Fields
Even if they think that, no responsible team is making a reclamation project their big plan A going into the season.I honestly think Carolina feel that Darnold can be rehabbed and made into a good QB. As bad as Darnold has been in recent years, it could be a product of an awful o-line, little or no receiving weapons, and poor coaching. He will have an upgrade in all three areas in Carolina. I doubt they will take Fields if he drops to him. I think the only team currently in the top ten that would take him is Denver at this point. But I still think he might drop into the teens.
If Ryan is planning on playing more than one season, Atlanta would be dumb to take a QB there. Pitts would completely transform that offense and make Ryan’s job a lot easier. If he’s planning on leaving after the season, a QB makes more sense. Here’s how I have it...When SF traded for 3 I immediately thought it was 5 QBs in 5 picks. Yeah, anyone who thinks teams like the Panthers/Broncos/Saints (I'd even put us in this category) will be happy to just build around a bridge-tier QB is delusional and probably just trying to come up with a scenario in which a QB falls to a pick we can reach. We can probably safely assume that some of these bridge QBs will indeed start the bulk of the season, but it won't be due to a lack of trying to upgrade. It's just that there aren't enough QB prospects to go around. We just have to hope we aren't the odd ones out.Even if they think that, no responsible team is making a reclamation project their big plan A going into the season.
yes, something unusual, something that might happen to a team that hasn't needed to draft a starting quarterback in over 25 years (other than last year)That only becomes true if another team moves up or someone takes him early. Reality is we will probably never know unless the Pats jump up which would be 100% out of their comfort zone when it comes to future draft picks.
Pats will go with best defensive player on the board. Lombardi has worked in that building before and knows things. If he falls to the Pats at 15 they'll trade down for a good haul then probably trade back into the late first round. They do have a big gap in picks between their 2nd and 3rd rounders.
Teams do it all the time. Well, not all the time, but frequently. Darnold sucked last year, but he wasn't awful his first two. Nothing special, but he did show flashes.Even if they think that, no responsible team is making a reclamation project their big plan A going into the season.
