I would like WR Torrey Smith for our Deep threat he filled that role very well in Baltimore.

I would agree based on talent, but Torrey Smith hates Patriots fans, & too be honest, I can't blame him.

I do not believe this represents Patriot Nation, but as a 30 year plus season ticket holder, I am not totally surprised. There are bad apples in every stadium & fan base.

Just over $6m a year for Doyle, doesn't even crack the top 16 paid TEs.

I think Doyle is better than most people think, i would take him all day over Bennett for the next 3 years.

It appears the Pats agree cause they'd rather have the guy who lost his job to Jack Doyle than Bennett.

Chicken Little here! The thing that is frustrating to me is that the Patriots seem
to be spending more time re-signing a #3 tight end coming off ACL surgery than
re-signing starting players.

It's a lot easier to sign/not sign a player on the bottom end of hte 53 than the top. A guy like Williams would leap to a contract offer a million more than the Pats offer, of course, but once you get to nits and bits - hundred thousand here or there - the cost of moving can become more than the pay raise.

Williams was out last year with an ACL - that's why the Pats didn't exercise the ERFA deal on him. He won't make that much without incentives. Anywhere.

Resigning him was simply a matter of deciding whether they wanted him back in camp or not.

Even Develin - easy to get it done.

Hightower? Not so much.
