NE legal FA tampering watch

I meant the speculation that they were waiting to tender him.
Turns out they didn't wait, they just didn't announce them all at once.
We'll have to see if they reach a longer term deal or not, but if he only makes 3.91m instead of the 12m that you projected during our convo last week, this would help to explain some of the gap that we had in our personal projections.

Hopefully I am right and they extend him. Much better than getting an RFA offersheet, or trying to deal with him next year.
In any event, I'm sure we will use the cap, but for a cushion. It is seeming like BB is shopping for a luxury item (big money WR) with the extra cap space he has.

So many posters hate it whenever a rumor of patriots going after an elite WR comes into play. It's perplexing. Why? If it makes a 40 year old Brady's job easier, then why aren't you for it? After all, our top 2 slot WRs next year will both be above 30 years old.

It's like all patriots posters here think elite WRs are all divas, and only Boy Scout types can succeed here.

Really don't wanna see Butler in a stiller uniform next year...And only get the 30th pick back.
That's a pretty sickening thought.

The Steelers just laid out big money for Bell and Brown, I seriously doubt they are going to throw big money and their first for Butler.

I would never give up a 2nd, but the thought of Taylor Gabriel in this offense makes me drool a bit.

I'll answer that.
First WR is the most overrated position in the field
Second when you have tom Brady he makes whoever you out at WR better. Since there is a finite amount of money to spend for the entire team I am worried more about improving the spots that tom Brady can elevate instead if spending money to help the one guy who doesn't need it.

Its the original pick - #1.
He's as good as gone. Pats royally jacked this one up. It will be a miracle if he comes back be use someone will pay him or screw up an offer sheet so bad the Pats can't match.

It really is stunning. You don't allow someone to be taken unless you are comfortable with the player leaving.
I agree he's more than likely gone.
Hopefully to a team at the top of the draft that has a ton of cap space.

bad feeling packers or raiders sign him to a huge offer

That was not a report it was a guess.

There really isn't a lot to worry about. How many 1st round RFAs have ever been signed away?
Why sign a guy who costs you your first round pick if you can just sign the next best guy and give up nothing?
Butler isn't that much better that he is worth more money and a #1.
But if you think he is wait a year and sign him so you keep your 1.

1st round RFAs don't get signed.

No way

Cooks >>>> Gabriel

Cooks would be a superstar for 4-5 years in a pats uniform.
No he wouldn't because we wouldn't pay him what he would ask. 2 years at best and he may hold out before that.

But yeah he is twice the player Gabriel is.
