I just looked at the box score.

The Jets kicker missed the extra point on the first 2 TD. After the 3rd TD which put them up 18-14 with 9 1/2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, the Jets decide to go for 2. They miss, of course, and don’t score another point the rest of the game.

I suppose I can see the advantage of being up 20-14 versus 19-14 (assuming kicker actually does his job this time), but this seems really early to be chasing after points to me. There were still 40 minutes left in the game. Does 6 points versus 5 points really make a difference at this point? Well, I guess not since they lost by 15.

Wow, da Jete are a game and a half out on the Tankathon Trophy -- they even suck at sucking!

Also, SEA beat SF, so their other draft pick is getting worse over time.

Haven’t they learned yet? It doesn’t matter what pick they get, they’ll mess it up regardless. Either -

- draft a total bust
- draft someone who underplays his talent, who then leaves the Jete and starts performing well due to better coaching of fundamentals
- somehow manage to hit on a player, but the coaching staff won’t know how to use him so opponents will scheme him out when it matters. Then they sign him to a big contract extension and he’ll rest on his laurels.

It’s the circle of life.

The Jets have made me come up with this notion: Every prospective draftee should have a secret veto. One team that they can declare they won’t play for. If you try to draft him, it’ll be invalidated and you have to go to the next choice. It might save some kids from the ignominy of being drafted by the Jets.

Joe must be getting old, or hes just been worn out covering the jest. Years ago, in his wfan days he use to Loudly rant and rave. He was more unhinged, now he sounds sedated compared to then..Back about ten years ago i would always tune in after a jete game to here him and cartoon scream and yell, benigno sounded like he had to be foaming at the mouth.
