The Packers basically sold their souls for one final run.
They aren’t even that good.

It will be interesting to see how gb does this year without a joke schedule. The last 2 years they somehow managed to play almost nobody in the regular season. Things will finally even out this year it appears. Im fairly certain they are playing on wild card weekend.
I'd tell you that you will if he decides that he wants to play in either New England or Miami starting in 2022.
Aaron Rodgers learned how you mentor the next generation from Brett Favre. Tom Brady learned it from Drew Bledsoe. You can't ask for more diametrically opposite responses to a "prisoner's dilemma" situation. There was only 1 starting spot. Brett identified that early and explicitly refused to help A-Rodge get there, including as he prepared to retirement-shtup his fans. Drew taught Tom what he could, even though his heart was breaking, or at least leaking out his nicked aorta.IMHO Rodgers never felt his position as starter was at risk, rather he was angry that the Packers never drafted a skill player in the 1st round since he got there. The first time they did was to take a QB, who (theoretically) should not be contributing until Rodgers was gone.

Tom gave NE management the chance to keep him, then knew when he would have to say "enough," then said it. I can't fault him or BB. He evaluated himself as still a going concern at 43. Bill tried to do the unprecedented math, and just said "this is nuts. Time to pay you like you might age one day."
Yeah I would puke my brains out if it was 2018. Even last year he was outstanding. But not happening. Too old and not chugging TB12 Jizz.I'd tell you that you will if he decides that he wants to play in either New England or Miami starting in 2022.
Engineering a clean exit, Tompa style
Aaron Rodgers - 37.0M
David Bakhtiari - 23.0M
Davante Adams - 14.5M
Randall Cobb - 9.0M
Aaron Jones - 12.0M
Total - 95.5M
Tell me how the Patriots would build a solid defense and special teams unit when nearly $100M of their cap is tied up to ensuring their diva quarterback has everthing he could ever want.
That narrative doesn't even make sense. The Packers have been so successful at drafting WRs in rounds 2-3 that they never needed to draft one in the 1st. It would be stupid to. Sure there's RB and TE but many would argue it's not worth taking an RB in the 1st (maybe they would have, if Aaron Jones hadn't emerged). And most 1st round TEs are gone by top 15 it seems, or taken in the 2nd (unless you reach for one in the latter half of the 1st).IMHO Rodgers never felt his position as starter was at risk, rather he was angry that the Packers never drafted a skill player in the 1st round since he got there. The first time they did was to take a QB, who (theoretically) should not be contributing until Rodgers was gone.
Rodgers to retire next week. Not sure how true it is!
Making sense with DeVante Adams now.
Glad he’s setting up his exit as it’s a dead end. Let him choke with another team which will finally force the media to question his “greatness”. He’ll get beat down by whatever team turns out to be the best in the NFC. Packers have holes at WR, TE and all three levels of the D.
It’s going to be a real sheet show if Adams leaves too.
No no no, my viewpoint on the inner lives of people neither of us know is more valid than yours. How do you like them apples!Come on…ridiculous stuff.
Right below, you pretty much state that they all have essentially the same personality. So which is it?Rodgers didn’t actually learn his personality traits from Favre; Brady didn’t learn his from Bledsoe. Work hard, prepare, be a good teammate, be a mentor, don’t be a mentor, be a prick, be selfish, be lazy….these are part of someone’s character and not something ”Oh golly gee” Rodgers became influenced by because the quarterback before him acted that way.
Agree w/every trait you mentioned, but there's "really competitive" and then there's Brady. In Anthro class a million years ago we learned about a group in the Amazon who call themselves the Yanomamo. Yanomamo means "fierce people." In that book, there is an interview with one Yanomamo guy who says he doesn't like this other group in the Amazon, because they are "too fierce." Brady's that tribe. But if you have to make any assumptions, assume they’re all really competitive guys with big egos, big contracts, no disillusions about how the NFL works. None of them are going to be happy about getting replaced by the younger, prettier secretary.
