DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft: Day 1

So maybe Lomu basically outright WON the left tackle job and forced Fano to move to RT?

If so we ended up with the better tackle at a later draft position? Something to think about.

Lomu redshirted their Freshman year.

According to this, RT is Fano's natural position and that's why he was moved there when Lomu was healthy in their 2nd year there.

So u don't think we have as big of a need at Edge as I do.
But why do you have to resort to your "you don't understand" comments.
This wouldn't be the first time you've made such comments in an otherwise civil discussion.
I understand plenty.

Nothing in my post had anything to do with comparing the need of Edge to OT. In fact, at no point in that post did I state any opinion, one way or the other, about the need at Edge. All I did was provide facts that debunked you negative assessment of Ponder and Dre'Mont Jones. What's ridiculous about your response is that I stated numerous times in the past few weeks that Vrabel would have a tough decision to make if it came down to RT and Edge.

When a person such as yourself CLAIMS that you "understand" but insist on ignoring 2/3 of how the pass rush is assessed, it sends one of two messages. The first is that you don't actually understand. The second is that you're being willfully disingenuous. Either way isn't a good look for you.

The fact that you think I wasn't being civil is a you problem. Calling into question whether you truly understand a subject is a perfectly valid response when you butcher the subject the way you did. You didn't do yourself any favors with your follow-up response either.

Why do I make factual statements about people? In your case, it's because you showed you don't understand that sacks are no the be all end all to what makes an effective pass rush.. Then you compounded it by making a moronic claim about my stance when I had stated numerous times that if it came down to a choice between RT and Edge that Vrabel would have a tough decision.

You seem to have an issue with people debunking your claims with actual facts. Which is what I did.

You thinking that I wasn't being civil is a YOU problem. It says that you don't understand the difference between someone being civil and someone outright insulting you.
What you clearly don't understand is our pass rush from outside was terrible last year.
You also don't seem to understand that our pass rush has not gotten better.
Quote all the pressure stats you want, it doesn't change the fact we were one of the most ineffective teams rushing the passer last year.

And have to depend on Jarvis Laundry with a bum knee because of his contract.

Idiotic pick by the Rams. Another team falling into "playing for the future" trap. Rams are on the brink of going to the Super Bowl and do something stupid like this.

GB did this crap with Aaron Rodgers and they have been pedestrian with Jordan Love.
IMO, AR being a loser when his team needed him most was a bigger ‘reason’ than choosing Love, who’s shown promise. AR, like Peyton, was only able to win the SB when his D lead the team to the title.

I feel better about the pick this morning. Wanted Banks went early. Wanted Mesidor went . Talked my self into Thieneman good player faller gone. Thought Mcdonald or TJ Parker but traded up for Lomu. Guy was consistently ranked in 1st by the pundits and they need to protect Drake. Wish they didnt have to trade up and lose a 4th. I wish the kid great success.

I wonder if the aj trade is happening what the compensation will be. I hope it's not a 1st but if it is how would that trade affect what the pats did today? Maybe it affecting the decision
I wouldn’t give up a first for him….or Thomas. 2nd next year period. Eagles are motivated to get him out of there….im just worried about his reputation as a malcontent when he doesn’t get enough passes his way (like Antonio Brown). And his prior relationship with Vrabel wasn’t great….Have to see what Pats do….

Was Ty Simpson worth the #2 overall pick though? I haven't paid attention to early QB prospects simply because we don't need one.
I think this will come back to bite McVay….i don’t think Simpson is that good….poor man’s Mac Jones…played one season in college. Time will tell

I'm just basing it on the modern NFL, this isn't 5-10 years ago teams don't trade up and give up assets to take a swing tackle in the first round.

He's going to play and start somewhere especially by mid season, he might start off as a backup.

You don't get 1st round tackles sitting on the bench all season in 2026.

I don't have any problem with him sitting, he needs to get stronger but he's a really good athlete and should turn out to be a very good tackle long term, and that's all that really matters.

can’t believe LAR passed on one of Lemon, Sadiq, or Bain for Simpson lmao

they have a top 5 roster in football, with an argument for top 1. they have the 13th overall pick with a chance to add a potentially high impact weapon or pass rusher to that roster. and they spend it on an undersized QB who is going to compete for the #2 QB spot on the team

lol

I wonder if Bill started laughing at him like the Cole Strange pick.

Why are you refer to Lomu with “their”?

Neither can McVay if you look at the presser, he looked like he was steaming with rage that they picked Simpson, it reminded me of Vrabel when the Titans traded AJ Brown.
