Many Pats fans still believe that the Pats need to acquire an “impact” WR, to complete their current receiver crew. Who is your preferred option?

No more expensive reaches in free agency, please. If they feel the need to draft someone, either a flashy early rounder or a project, fine. The alleged "need" for a star "impact" WR has been WAY overstated.

For me it is Juedy for a 2nd + one of our WRs (Not Bourne, JuJu, nor Thorton, LOL) or a 1st with a 2nd coming back or a conditional 2024 2nd tied to whether Juedy exceeds 75 rec/850 yards.

Reasons: Still young, still on a rook deal with a year 5 option, and feel he is an ascending player…currently would rank him as a top 25 WR with the potential to climb into the top 10.

I voted for a draft pick as well.

I would make an exception for one vet whom I didn’t list: Godwin. The fact that the Bucs picked up Baker indicates that they are trying to stay relevant, making it less likely that they will trade him. It was already unlikely.

Don’t see it. I would be willing to look at those same less than 8 games that you studied him on all22 and see if I see the same.
A22 is available to everyone. I'm curious why you're a hard no on him if you haven't even watched him that closely?

His film is actually pretty filthy and I think hes underutilized outside. When he didn't have Sutton lining outside towards the end of the year he stepped up big time.
But you are talking about an incremental improvement over one of the 4 we already have.
It also sounds like you're looking at box score stats and comparing his to what we have. His QB situation was putrid the last few years and had his HC fired during the year last season. He still managed about 1K yards, about 15 per rec (top 15) and 9.7 Y/Target which was top 8-10. Never having more than 110 targets. Everything points to a WR1 in the right situation.
I don’t see that as worth a 1st or 2nd with 1 year on his contract. (Nor 2)
Id prefer him to Parker but not if I have to give away high picks.
We need those picks to use in other areas that have more room to improve
We gave up a 2nd for Sanu. Spent 2nd and 3rd round picks on guys who barely played or made a impact recently.

We could do a lot worse with our resources and have.

I will take a few draft picks for $200 Alex ...
I am way more intrigued by the passing game out of the backfield.

RLKAG .........

To add
Before Wilson he had to catch balls from drew lock and bridgewater
I don’t know if balls is really the correct word to describe their throws
If you can get jeudy for a second rd pick maybe after a trade down in the first for another second then we absolutely should do it

Hopkins is the only impact WR out there to be had. Jeudy while in theory getting him you'd up he would be it's not guaranteed.

So for me it's Hopkins

or

Trade out of 14
Draft Zay Flowers

or

Trade out of 14
Draft Zay Flowers

If no high impact player falls to 14, this is the option. Trade down for a second R2 pick, and then there are a whole slew of guys, Flowers or others, Harrison or Freeland, Mazi, etc. There are a couple of guys at 14 we should not pass on, but I am wondering if they will still be there or not.

Has it, though?

The receivers were pretty bad last year and JJ is only a slight upgrade over Meyers.

I guess the big question is, were they bad because the terrible combo of a weak line + Patricia + Mac struggling? Are these receivers better than we give them credit for and they’ll light it up next year with a better play caller and (hopefully) better line?

I personally feel while all those above are true about the flaws, even if we fix them, none of these guys are going to keep opposing DC up at night. I feel that’s why we need the impact player because then the entire field opens up for the rest. Juju himself put up 1400 with AB on the opposite side opening things up for him.

no, can Bill lay off the injury guys for once

"Keeping opposing DCs up at night" is just an overused cliche. Last season the Patriots had a playoff-ready roster squandered by bad offensive coaching. That includes the WR corps and an OL that was unnecessarily messed with. With two pass-catching tight tends, good pass-catching backs and the current WR group the Patriots have more than enough to be effective throwing the ball. If they want to add someone additional, preferably via the draft, fine. But I wouldn't consider it a crying need. Not by a long shot.

It’s not a matter of being a hard no on him it’s a matter of having more needs in other areas. Removing one of the 4 we have and replacing them with Jeudy doesn’t improve the team as much, IMO, as using those resources elsewhere.

I hope you’re right.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the receivers are all solid. Obviously no tier 1 star but maybe they just won’t need it. Death by thousand paper cuts approach.

Doesn’t matter if they have 25 yard bombs or dink and dunk so long as they’re getting in the end zone.

What do you think of the offensive line though? I should re-phrase, tackles. We have one of the better inner 3 in the league between Andews, Strange, and Onwenu. I’d feel a lot better if they were able to land a solid tackle.

I always feel Brown is solid but then I hear people **** on the line so I’m confused. Wynn was obviously bad last season but isn’t brown okay?

I suspect the OL will get addressed in the draft. Apart from Andrews and Strange, the rest appears in various stages of flux.

Strange is no prize and Andrews is now injury prone. I'll take a top 5 center or a long armed,6'5" plus left tackle. This line needs MAJOR work. Onwenu is our best, most reliable lineman and we got him in the 6th round.Bill has a good eye for OL talent when he isn't talked out of it by his zipperhead scouts

If they could get Hopkins or Sutton for a late round pick, I'd be fine with it.

Otherwise they can draft another talented WR in the middle rounds... and another one later if they want.

They have 11 draft picks, and there is always UDFA's.

Talented WR's can be found everywhere in the draft, but the group they have right now is nice.

You people are obsessed with "weapons."

You can't roster ten wide receivers... and you only play 3 or 4 on the field at the same time max.

I'm still old fashioned Wozz...build from the inside out. We'll have plenty of WR talent on the 90 man when camp starts. Road graders though...you MUST draft them when you have the shot...IMO
