I think Thornton separated his shoulder last night. Should be out 6 to 8 weeks at a minimum.

QB (3) M.Jones, B.Hoyer, B.Zappe
RB (4) D.Harris, R.Stevenson, T.Montgomery, P.Strong
WR (6) J.Meyers, K.Bourne, D.Parker, N.Agholor, *T.Thornton, M.Slater
TE (3) H.Henry, J.Smith, D.Asiasi
C (2) D.Andrews, J.Ferentz
G (4) M.Onwenu, C.Strange, A.Hambright, *C.Hines
T (4) T.Brown, I.Wynn, Y.Cajuste, J.Herron
DE (1) D.Wise
DT (5) C.Barmore, D.Godchaux, D.Ekuale, L.Guy, S.Roberts
ILB(4) J.Bentley, R.McMillan, M.Wilson, J.Tavai
OLB(3) M.Judon, A.Jennings, J.Uche
CB (6) J.Mills, Jo.Jones, T.Mitchell, S.Wade, M.Bryant, M.Jones
SS (2) K.Dugger, A.Phillips
FS (3) D.McCourty, *J.Peppers, C.Davis
ST (3) N.Folk, J.Bailey, J.Cardona

NOTES
*Thornton will make the 53, then get put on IR, and Wilkerson or Nixon will be brought up while he recovers.
*Hines or Sherman here
*Peppers if he's healthy and up to speed, but I could see Bledsoe make it.

DL is going to be really hard to pick. Mitchell showed a lot in the 4th qtr. People talk a lot about Ray in practice, but I haven't seen much in the games. And I left Anderson off, but who knows. I just can't see Wise, Barmore, Godchaux, Guy not making it. And I personally think Ekuale is a lock too. Then I think Roberts is the guy that makes the 53 over Mitchell, Ray, and even Anderson. Because most of the guys listed as "OLB's" can play the DE/EDGE role - like Judon, Jennings, Uche. Just as Wise and Ekuale can depending on play call.
And LB will be tough too - can't keep McMillan, Wilson, Langi & McGrone. Bentley is a lock. And they love Tavai for some reason, even starting Friday's game. So I think Langi is done, and McGrone will be PS. Perkins is the mystery, can they stash him on PS, or give him the Foxboro Flu?

IMO I think McGrone will get snatched from the PS. He was rated fairly high before his injury (which is why he wasn't drafted higher). Teams may be looking at him now that he is healed.

I agree with the DL…Tough decisions.

On paper that is a very mediocre offense at best.
Unless jonnu and agholor step up their games in a major way. They will have difficulty scoring points against good defenses

Yeah Zuma, we've been talking about the DL position now for a few weeks. A lot of attention is focused on the wr position and cb position which I understand, but the DL position and who's going to make the team is going to be very, very interesting. A lot of players making plays whether it's Davis, Ray, Roberts, Ekuale and even Mitchell looked Good Friday night. That doesn't even take into account Anderson or Guy who I thought could possibly be surprise cuts. Just a fascinating position.

What is very mediocre? I think that we are a top 10 offense.

For me, all that is necessary for that to happen is the expected improvement by Jones, and adequate coaching. For me, it is the coaching that is the major question mark.

If you try to look at it objectively, the offensive line is middle of the pack at best. There are no electric playmakers. Couple of good solid players but relative to other teams in AFC, on paper, nothing jumps out. No oneon pats offense will cause sleepless nights for opposing defensive coordinators.

no jack jones here? Marcus Jones > M Bryant at slot corner imo and depending on Jonathan Jones position i would like jack jones as an outside CB

The O-line really concerns me. Overall, I didn't like what I saw from Mac on Thursday. He badly missed easy routine throws and the velocity on intermediate throws still looks putrid. If we don't see an improved game with Mac, we will see the same smoke and mirrors offense as last year that gets exposed when they face a competent team.

I think top 10 offense is toward the top of this unit's range, and we would do it with plenty of grind-it-out football, if at all-- "expected" improvement by Mac notwithstanding.

I know what we want from Mac but we're not seeing consistent evidence of it. I see good performances among the 2s and 3s on this team but the only thing pointing to improvement by the 1s is really a speed dimemsion in part from Agholor coming along (hallelujah!) but also in part from Thornton who is gone for at least Septemer.

I like and trust the running attack. Hanging over it all is the O-line which has been lost at times.

We are what we are. I would be pleasantly surprised if we do end up scaring people, and pretty shocked if we were terrible. We're still in the years where we are hoping to get in any way we can and then get the golden ticket in our Wonka bar in a cindarella season.

Last year we fell apart down the stretch.

This year's wrinkle seems to be to shore up average to good performances over a greater length of time--fresh horses when they are needed. I think this year's IR rules might facilitate this approach.

I see us as being in the mold of the old first dynasty teams... "The Ravens dominated you. The 85 Bear suffocated you. The Patriots just beat you."

This is a group that can get to the point of being described this way. But I would not predict this out of them. I started out optimistically predicting 12 wins. Not out of the question, but I think I'd put the prediction at 11 right now, because Mac's not proving our belief that he'll take the next step. Sometimes he point toward it but proving it? No.

On a totally unrelated topic , how is Mac looking in the games . I missed the first quarter and could not watch him . Saw zappe and felt save for the ill timed interception , he looked pretty good .

Do you see the sophomore improvements in Mac like what we see with Barmore or is it still in flux because of OL and playcalling duties?
