As much as I don't care for Montgomery, he's making it difficult to cut him. I do like K. Harris (Pierce Lol) and Strong though. RB cut downs will be tough.

I think this is a pretty good list with the exception of Tavai. They'll never be another Elandon Roberts, but this kid is very close. Count on something bad to happen when he's on the field.

I agree…their are better options other then him. But he played a lot last night I think… guess BB likes him. I think Zolak mentioned he can play 3 downs but IMO he’s average at best.

Agree with most but couple of changes .

I don't think we will have the luxury to carry 9 OT , so 8 seems ideal.

Perkins /McGrone / new free agent signing could happen here . They have just not showed anything that makes them get a roster spot.

For the remaining 4, it looks like Myles Bryant, Shaun wade, schooler, labryan Ray , Sam roberts and tre Nixon/ wilkerson as well as aiasi are in play. Possibly an external LT might also come in.my vote for 4 goes to schooler, labryan Ray, Shaun wade and myles Bryant. Nixon /Wilkerson is gonna be a super tough cut

If Bourne is shipped no way are we trading agholor. If agholor starts to get the offense better this year, we should prolly extend him.

The likelihood that neither Meyers nor Agholor will be on the 53 man roster (barring injuries to both) is 0.0%, even before the Wilkerson concussion.

Down Wilkerson and now Thornton, this is looking more probable.

3) I know Bourne pi$$ed off Belichick, but I still would much rather have him than Humphrey, especially with Thornton injured.
4) For my 49 man squad I would rather have Wynn than Hambright. The OG situation will be solved with additions. I believe that Belichick has Ferentz ahead of the rest as a backup OG, which is truly sad.

For me, average at a position is fine for the bottom 3 or 4 on the roster, especially if they are a STer.

That's him...you'll know when he's on the field because the other team is usually attacking him and he's always a few yards out of position.
He's a good special team player but not so much a lb

Yes, that was Tavai. Langi was only in for the last 5 snaps, along with Schooler, Wieland, and Hafford.

I know that the performance of offensive linemen is especially hard for a non-expert to gauge on an individual basis (exhibit A is the surprising-to-me dumping of Mason, who to my untrained eye seemed to be playing really well). That said, this season it seems uncommonly difficult to figure out who is playing well individually on the OL, especially the back-up OL, I read completely different things in different articles.

For example, at the "Top Stories" on Patsfans.com, there is an article: "Patriots 53-Man Roster Projection: Who Made Their Case Vs. Panthers" where the author had as the OL: "Trent Brown, Cole Strange, David Andrews, Mike Onwenu, Isaiah Wynn, Yodny Cajuste, Kody Russey". The first six (including Cajuste, who may even start) are no surprise (unless Wynn it cut, but I read somewhere that there would be no cap savings), but Russey? It would be nice to have a future Center to groom, but I haven't really heard anything about Russey being on the 53 anywhere else. And I'm also confused about Hambright, some places it says he has played very well and others, not so much. Finally there is Ferentz, one article said that Ferentz has really taken a giant step up, but on the other hand you and others posters are "meh".

Apart from from the presumed starters which may include Cajuste, has anyone (Hambright?, Russey? Herron?) really looked like a solid backup, or are they just place-holders for some later veteran addition after the cuts to 53?

I expect Herron to be on the 53; he was an OK backup last year.

Russey seems to be a Practice Squad player to start the year.

Many here don't like Ferentz. Belichick trusts him as our backup center. I expect that he would be active in every game in that role.

Perry’s projection is a little too cute in too many ways for my liking, from having a WR as the only backup tight end, to cutting the entire second team DL (Anderson, Davis, Ekuale) in favor of the three rookies, to listing Ross Reiter as a cut even though that already happened over a month ago.

There will absolutely be an 8th OL on the gameday roster, because you don’t get the 48th active spot unless it includes at least 8 OL. The 8th could be a PS elevation in the short term, but that’s not a realistic option throughout the season. I think we’re more likely to see 9 than 7, and I’d go as far as saying 10 is more likely than 7.
