EXCLUSIVE: Through a source inside of the Patriots organization, I obtained a note that was passed by Dante to Bill as he entered the draft war room tonight: F0410BEA-F686-4BC3-B537-94F3528DD005.jpeg

Hotline Operator: Suicide Rates just spiked 100% in the New England area!!
Concerned Social Worker: But what could be the cause?
Emergency Responder: Must be Belichick up to his shenanigans again!

M y point is belichick created a hole he had to use a pick on by trading mason. He could have used that pick to fill a hole at cb, wr, lb or dl.
He didn’t create a hole by trading Mason, it ironed up a job for Onwenu, who I expect to be just as good at a much lower cost.
The hole was created by not overpaying an unathletic, not very strong JAG at LG, which he just used a draft choice to upgrade.

Jackson was replaced by Butler.
WR was addressed with Parker.
LB was addressed with McMillan, McGrone and Jennings returning from injuries and adding Wilson
DL will probably be addressed later in the draft but he may not feel there is a hole there with barmore, Godchaux, Guy, and Davis but I’m not sure a DT would have been the move in round 1 anyway.

Strange and Karlaftis will be joined now. If the Purdue edge rusher is the next Kerrigan and we have a journeyman interior lineman, we have been raped by our own coach.

That’s fair.

Cole Strange. I am still laughing. We always say it will be a head scratching pick that will surprise everyone and then it is Cole Strange. Too funny. I am still laughing an hour later. I got sucked in and thought it would be Karlaftis or Hill. We needed a left guard and backup center, so it is a position of need. Zion was gone (Penning too) so we went with Strange. I am sure Cole is not a bust, he will be a professional for 5 years and we will love him, but not an exciting pick.
He is going to have a steep learning curve. The level of competition he’s faced the last five or six years is grossly inferior to what he’s going to face now. Yeah, he’s athletic and strong and smart and personable. But also thin.

He’s going to be bullrushed into next week. He has a skinny butt. Not enough sand in the pants.

Pretty sure everyone here just wants to see some talent added to this damn defense. Still a lot of draft yet and some great talent available. Bill can keep his picks and have a haul of guys to bring in, or use them to move all around the board. Tomorrow is an all new draft day and we start over again.

Not even going to try and guess who will be available. This draft has been ****ing bananas.

  • Round 2: No. 54
  • Round 3: No. 85
  • Round 3: No. 94 (via Kansas City Chiefs)
  • Round 4: No. 121 (via Kansas City Chiefs)
  • Round 4: No. 127
  • Round 5: No. 158 (via Miami Dolphins)
  • Round 6: No. 183 (via Houston Texans)
  • Round 6: No. 200
  • Round 6: No. 210 (via Los Angeles Rams)
  • Round 7: No. 245 (via Houston Texans from Dallas Cowboys)

Why didn’t they just keep Mason instead of trading him for peanuts? It doesn’t make any sense. Dr. Strange is only 4 years younger!

He would be better if he got fat.

Dr. StrangeGump.

Offensive line could of been better but it wasn't exactly a pressing issue.

This pick doesn't do a damn thing for our defense and also doesn't make us competitive offensively with the teams that are ahead of us.

It's a bad pick for the 2022 season. I can't tell you and nor can you what it does for the 2025 season.
You don’t think Ferentz pencilled in as your starting LG is a pressing issue? Who are we putting on the field worse than that?

No, the picks used on offense do not help the defense and the picks used on defense do not help the offense.
But how can you possibly say improving the OL doesn’t make the offense better? Fantasy football is won by guys who make statistics. Real football is won in the trenches.

Having a better OL surely helps us in 2022. Did you not notice that when the OL was bad, we struggled and when the OL was good we were much better?

Thanks. After reading that I can see why BB liked him enough to grab him instead of taking the chance he’d get away. His stock was strong, and rising. I’m not convinced he’d still be on the board at 54. But what really matters is whether Bill thought he’d still be there.
He plays guard and center and played some left tackle. Thats important if theres an injury on o-line. Bill must not have wanted to risk losing him in the 2nd if his stock was rising.

No one on earth had this man penciled in as a first round pick except apparently the pats.

None of us even heard of him.

This pick is a reach. Which isn't to say bust.

Shaq mason could of got us through the year just fine.

Physically, he's an exemplary prospect. I like that he's on the team. I just hope it's not at the expense of an impact player on defense, that's all.

Who is us?

They picked the player they felt was the best one available. You have no idea how other teams that aren’t the rams evaluated him. Almost every team had a pick between this one and the pats next pick.
If only 1 agreed with the pats evaluation they would draft him.
Are you arguing that the patriots should not take the player they deem best because “us” never heard of him so therefore they should take a guy they like less because why?

I'm arguing against interior lineman being a pressing need that needs addressing in the first round.

Which I can say without debate as that's how I view it.

What I can't say and nor can anyone else is wether or not this player is the best player at his position in this draft. I have no idea.

If the Patriots see offensive line as the biggest issue needing addressing or if they felt that this was the 29th best player in the entire draft than yea, I have a issue with that because I don't believe that to be true at all and it's concerning that they do.

And yet, four of them were taken in the first round, three ahead of Strange.
