Clearly they don’t think it’s a reach. They felt he was the best player on the board. They need to be right, but their history with evaluating OL indicates there is a good chance they are.
If he was sooo high on their draft board, then why did they even move down from 21. They should have just taken him there. You are right though, I’m sure they don’t think it’s a reach, but that itself is the problem

Your point? Onwenu will be just as good for a fraction of the price.
M y point is belichick created a hole he had to use a pick on by trading mason. He could have used that pick to fill a hole at cb, wr, lb or dl.

So loyal you said you’re out of here because of one draft pick. Didn’t even wait til he signed, let alone hit the field. Very loyal.

I think you should look up the word hyperbole

I’m sorry . I am
A human with emotions. God forbid I get angry and emotional and complain about something I care dearly for . Just shut me down. Sounds like twitter
Ok, understand the emotions.

Let’s chill.

and hope we get pleasantly surprised by the results at the end of the season.

Cole Strange. I am still laughing. We always say it will be a head scratching pick that will surprise everyone and then it is Cole Strange. Too funny. I am still laughing an hour later. I got sucked in and thought it would be Karlaftis or Hill. We needed a left guard and backup center, so it is a position of need. Zion was gone (Penning too) so we went with Strange. I am sure Cole is not a bust, he will be a professional for 5 years and we will love him, but not an exciting pick.

Apparently if you don’t agree with everything lord bellichick and the patriots do, you are not worthy to be here on pats fans.com. If you disagree with anything, the moderator will try to shut you down and close your accounts. Kind of pathetic actually.

We must all bow down and not complain.
Are you feeling okay?

I responded to a post where you said you are no longer a Patriots fan and are leaving the board. I asked if you would want your account deactivated then. You replied yes.

How does that align with the above post?

He drafted Harry when they really needed a wideout, (still do) and he's taken alot of heat for that.

This kid has to be a pro bowler for it to be considered a success. It's just such a reach for a team that has many defensive holes and isn't going to resolve any of their stressing problems that I don't see how he doesn't take a lot of heat for this come next year when offense is running the league and we're out here underperforming.
How many last 3rd of the first round draft picks are pro bowlers? You say it like there were guaranteed pro bowl players passed up at 29.
At 29 for the pick to be a “success” he would need to be an effective starter. That’s a good result at that point in the draft.

There are a lot of koolaid drinkers here, but that’s to be expected.

If they could, they would put out an apple on Ian’s desk every morning.

He is making it your responsibility to know he is just being a baby and posting things he doesn’t mean instead of holding his breath until he turns blue.

What is your point? Are you saying the bengals proved that OLs aren’t important by losing because of theirs? Or the chiefs the year before?
No, of course not, but talent at skill positions is necessary to compete for championships. a lot harder to find plus players at skill positions than guards in the middle rounds.

Yep, I think you and McVay are sharing the same laugh. I read his reaction not so much as it’s a pick of laughably poor quality as being a “wow I didn’t see that coming” laugh.

It does hopefully fill an area of need. Lets roll into day 2 and hope to fill a couple more

Strange is replacing Karras, not Mason. Karras needed to be upgraded and Mason was expendable with Onwenu on the roster. Left Guard was the biggest hole on this team, not sure why people hate this pick so much.

Are you arguing against mcvays success? That would be a strange take.
Overall success, absolutely not! I’m trying to point out that folks shouldn’t dump on the pick using a basis of a coach who has zero track record of successful first round picks finding it amusing. Obviously, they’ve been successful via other means, but is the guy who goes 7+ years and counting with no first round picks the best reference on if a first round pick was a good choice?

And I’m not trying to say it was an amazing selection either, I criticized it already a few times in this thread. I like the player, the value seems poor, but if he exceeds expectations then it’ll be fine.

Now watch Bill panic and trade up to help the defense. Strange was going to be there at 54 no doubt about it.

Another horrible draft outing. Last year was the exception.

Parcells never would have pulled this stunt. A smart guy like Belichick just likes to rub his smug smarty pants shtick by being contrarian.

Offensive line could of been better but it wasn't exactly a pressing issue.

This pick doesn't do a damn thing for our defense and also doesn't make us competitive offensively with the teams that are ahead of us.

It's a bad pick for the 2022 season. I can't tell you and nor can you what it does for the 2025 season.

Reuters is reporting Joe Biden called this pick into Belichick in exchange for naming an Naval base after his dad.

Hunter must be on the Buffalo Bills board.
