Cam Released

Did you not read my post? Just because millions of people have done something it doesn't mean it's right for you and your circumstances.

I don't think it's about Covid or who should or shouldn't get vaccinated rather it's about the NFL's Covid policies and how an unvaccinated player could miss significant time whether he tests positive or not. BB may not personally care whether a player gets vaccinated or not but he does care about how it will affect the team.

Fans need to understand Mac will screw up. He will make mistakes.

TBH my expectations for Mac as a rookie are fairly low.
But if mac throws a few picks or fumbles, or to many drives stall early on the game day thread will melt down pretty quickly. Thers not a lot of patience. I think Jones has the potential to be a great QB, and i think Bill will treat Jones like he treated TB, that is as more of a game manager to start and lean on the running game taking the pressure off of Jones

Not on a seam route. When you underthrow a seam route, the receiver has to stop and come back, which is what he had to do, when he did, there was a defender right there, then it became a jump ball.
Meanwhile, Bourne had no one within 20 yards of him down the left sideline.

shouldn't have been signed again in the first place. Man he's bad.

Your observation about Ben Volin's piece this morning is on target. Josh probably taped it over the urinal in the coach's bathroom with a note that said: "Volin's quoting ESPN talking heads who think they know what we're thinking, again."
Either that or Shaughnessy's.

To anyone suggesting Mac needs to be superhuman I’d just say go back and look at Tom Brady’s numbers from 2001… that wasn’t a good season for him or any QB at that time. He threw 1 TD along with 1 INT in the entire playoffs. It’s a team game ultimately and there’s the distinct possibility Mac is further along than Tom at this time.

Brady was a game manager in 2001. He really just had to move the ball and not screw up. I am not sure that you can do that in today's NFL though. The Pats in the first dynasty were more of a defensive focused team, but this is a more of an offensive league now.

I am not as concerned about going to the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl this year (although that is the goal this year and every year) as I am with Mac growing as a QB that he could potentially win several rings down the line.

I think Bill is eyeing a return of Jimmy G Thang.

I just got the news… holy sheet I did not see this coming. The Mac Jones era begins. LFG

Well the season got more interesting no matter what happens now. Hard to get excited for the season with Newton as your QB. Even if Jones struggles this season, my and most people's interest level in the team has grown exponentially.

I wonder how much of this was about Cam's attitude. It's one thing to lose out being the starter to someone else but to be completely cut is another. I would think if Mac was flat out better than Newton then Newton would simply be the backup. He must have thrown a fit or Bill knew he was going to throw a fit and just be a distraction to the team. I honestly don't think Hoyer or Stidham are objectively better than Newton.

Defenses were different then. I expect at least 20-25 total TD’s from Mac.
3 Steelers - Ben has 1 more in him and they may have finally found the RB is always key to a Pittsburgh Super Bowl.
Steelers are done.

With Mac, we can run the offense like we’ve done for the last 20 years. The building blocks are there for a deep playoff run at least. This is a much better team than last year

Mac10 meta about to start in NE.

Belichick not wasting anyone's time.

Rod I respect you as a poster...but your coaching acumen is wanting.

Mostly im glad Mac is starting off the bat, so in a cold way this is overall good news to me. That said, i liked cam alot and sad to see him released. Still think hes a better backup than anyone else on the roster and was great in short yardage. Wish there could have been a way to hold him as a backup.

I am not putting any expectations for this team this year. I want to see him develop. But if the Pats could win seven games with Cam Newton and a untalented team last year, they certainly have the potential of winning 10-12 wins this year if Jones looks remotely like he did this preseason.

If you had faith in Bill making the obviously right football decision for the team this was a no brainer, but Tom Brady's departure, the 2020 season, and Bill's (seeming) blind support for Cam down the stretch made everyone second guess it. Me included.
