You don’t see it as partially a BB „good will“ gesture?

this gives Gilly the opportunity to show up and earn his money and still not be actually working so he can save face. Then when the two parties get down to actual contract $ nuts and bolts it is all collegial.
Why? He isnt forced to fine him and most holdouts get the fines back in the contract.
Gilmore didn’t hold out, he showed up.
There are really no circumstances that imply he wants to hold out and they need to create a trick so he can show up, not practice and not get fined. He could skip practice with an injury if he wasn’t on pup.
The only thing pup does is allow him to move to in season pup if he isn’t ready to start the year. It’s simply a list that says you aren’t able to practice so you stay eligible for in season pup without affecting the roster numbers.

The new CBA makes fines mandatory and no longer at the team’s discretion.

Ok, but if he is getting a raise or extension he would recoup the fines.
The CBA also says you can’t fake put a guy on pup.
In any event, he didn’t hold out, he reported.

Yes, as a workaround. I don’t for sure, but I don’t think teams get fines allocated back on their cap, so theoretically if a player holds out and racks up $5M in fines, that's going to cause some problems for that workaround solution.

Uche won't, or shouldn't, be on the field during early downs/running situations, just during passing downs as part of the nascar package...
HT could indeed see time at ILB; not so much KVN maybe...Really pulling for McMillan to secure a spot here.

this is so true! Winovich and uche are run stopping turnstiles. They should have signed over half their pay last season to Phillips and mccourty for all the poor run stopping efforts!

Head scratchers happen every year...this one included. 16 TE's on the team now.

we apparently have multiple guys with injuries at the tight end position and depth is needed.

I don't understand why they would need him, I don't know what his talent level is or might bring the team, I've no actual information about the coaches thinking here, therefore I'm going to assume it is bad and a mistake.
Their are literally 7 TE's on the team right now. But oh someone is hurt .....yeah something else is going on.

Does it matter if there are 7 TEs on the roster before TC has opened? Camp bodies are needed.

Camp body. Nothing more. He has about a .0000032% chance of making the team and 2x that making the PS.
