Why? He isnt forced to fine him and most holdouts get the fines back in the contract.You don’t see it as partially a BB „good will“ gesture?
this gives Gilly the opportunity to show up and earn his money and still not be actually working so he can save face. Then when the two parties get down to actual contract $ nuts and bolts it is all collegial.
Gilmore didn’t hold out, he showed up.
There are really no circumstances that imply he wants to hold out and they need to create a trick so he can show up, not practice and not get fined. He could skip practice with an injury if he wasn’t on pup.
The only thing pup does is allow him to move to in season pup if he isn’t ready to start the year. It’s simply a list that says you aren’t able to practice so you stay eligible for in season pup without affecting the roster numbers.
