DRAFT NFL Draft Rumors

Wow, I never thought it was an absolute certainty that Gilmore would not be traded until I read this.
If that’s the case, and they do trade him, they should have dealt him before the trade deadline last year. Might have resulted in a couple of more losses while experimenting with Jackson in the CB1 role, and improved draft position in each round. But whatever. I’d rather not part with Gilmore but if it can help get us our QB, then I’m fine with it.

I don't believe Russini. You can bet against her. WHich is why Gilmore will not be traded.

Yup. Seems like much ado about nothing to me, from a nothing “reporter”. No sh*t the Pats have talked to teams in the top 10. Bill and co. prepare for every scenario, and would want to go into the draft knowing what the cost of trading up to multiple spots (4, 5, 7, 8, 10) would be, in case one of “their guys” falls.

The Gilmore angle seems like pure speculation on her part, under the guise “insider info”. She never actually says that any team has been offered Gilmore as part of a trade-up package.

Yep plus the extra $$ and the 3rd comp pick if they let Thuney walk last year.

Bill absolutely failed last off-season. You either tank for a top 5 pick or put together a team that can make the playoffs.

Being at #15 showed a lack of direction or fear of having a really bad year.

I tend to think it was fear of finishing bad.

Trading Gilmore leaves a big hole at the corner position. Not sure if I trust Jackson as a number 1, great 2 though.

Depends on what the package is? If its Gilmore and 15, I think it sucks. If somehow they are able to hold onto to 15 and draft Horn or Surtain I’m rolling the dice on that deal.

Are other teams willing to take on G’s recent injury, his age & his impending FA ?
