This. I would love to see if we could get something out of Darnold but whatever any other team was willing to give we would need to double. There is absolutely no way the Jets want to let Darnold go on to New England and end up as a franchise QB without something substantial. That would be curse of the Bambino level voodoo that the NYJ fanbase would never forgive.

Why wouldn't the Jets want a division rival to add a bad player to its roster, especially if the rival offers a draft pick to facilitate the transfer?

Posting a thread? Nothing. My statement is a media thing. They have nothing to talk about, so they speculate on what might happen. IMO, Breer has no idea, other than an educated opinion. He looks at the rosters and says "who needs a young QB?" I believe if Belichick indeed has interest, he would not want to drive the price up by having it play out in the media. Just my two cents.

the report makes no sense and i don't see it happening. Also, I thought Darnold was average at best coming out of USC and he hasn't looked any good in the pros. i would pass

He has played pretty poorly so far but I think he has been put in the worst situation in the league since he came in. The organization is an absolute dumpster fire from top to bottom. The owner was off playing politics and allegedly sexually harassing women. The last GM got ousted in a power struggle with Gase who is one of the worst coaches I have ever seen. Gase then proceeded to alienate and piss off some of his best players and give almost nothing for Darnold to work with. On top of that he seemed to push Darnold back early from a shoulder injury only to have him hurt it again.
He may end up like David Carr and just be too shellshocked to be a franchise QB in the league but if he was available for a third round pick or even a second I would give that in a heartbeat. He has all the tools he just needs to be given some coaching and a stable organization to see if he can actually play. I wouldn't mind bringing in a guy like Fitzpatrick and having Darnold sit behind him for half the year to learn the offense and reset then worse case scenario he really does suck and we gave up what we gave up for Sanu.

Well the article is pretty clear. Someone asked breer if the patriots would be interested in Darnold and he said he thought they would be.
he never implied they were, just that he guessed they would be.
the thread title implies inside information which is not at all consistent with the actual story. It’s just irresponsible to read something then start a thread titled something different than what is actually in the article.
wasted my time opening it up to decipher why something so silly could be reported.
