JOSH GORDON REINSTATED

question: when Goodell decides that, does he decide at the same time the length of the suspension or no suspension or does that happen on seperate occasions?

Good question...I'm hoping for time already served.

What pisses you off is that it's a good player from another team. If it was a player on the Patriots, you'd likely be defending the decision. This is fandom 101 crap being played out.

Man is a rationalizing creature, and this situation is an excellent example of just that.

And, again, as I've noted on many occasions:

  • I oppose any testing for non-PED drugs.
  • I oppose any NFL discipline for conduct outside the NFL boundaries.
  • I think Brady got hosed.
  • I think Goodell's a clown.

However, that doesn't magically make it reasonable to cry because one CBA-defined policy is being implemented differently than another CBA-defined policy, when that's what's supposed to happen according to said CBA.
So I'm a Pats fan. That makes me more pissed off sure but the league is inconsistent.

Hill was in TC on day one for something that occurred much more recent than Gordon’s suspension. Hill did not miss one game or one TC practice.

Hill never missed a game or practice.

Gordon missed the last 3 games of the season and the entire playoffs.

Hill’s non-apology last week made people sick.

Gordon was in institutions and halfway houses for 9 months following all protocols and putting his body through withdrawal.

Think about the difference in that and the relative situations.

If Gordon isn’t in uniform by time they return from Detroit next week there should be hell to pay.
Oh yeah? And what are you going to do about it? *****, pout, complain? And then what? Oh that's right go back to watching the NYJFL*. So where's the incentive for the corrupt 32 to do something about it?

Hell to pay, hah! All talk man. Lead with your actions. Boycott the NYJFL* right now. If everyone in New England did it as well as all Patriots fans. You could all make a meaningful difference and do real damage. But you would need to do this for a long period. At least 2 years, probably more.

Do-able, very do-able. Will anyone do it? Nope. Because who gives a **** about that child, right? or that or this person. You need your football fix. If Josh Gordon can go to rehab, why can't everyone else look at their own football addiction. You know what's worse than what pieces of **** like Tyreek Hill, Peyton Manning and family, etc have done? Turning a blind eye to those criminal acts for their football fix. Now that's the real crime.

Agree in general. The sad thing is that the only reason his use of weed might be considered "abuse" is because it keeps getting him suspended by his employer. Otherwise, it could be that his life is actually better off with it. We just don't know.
His history indicates it’s a lot more than just weed.

19 game suspension?

1 Pats release Gordon
2 Chiefs pick him up
3 Goodell gives KC Chief Gordon the go to play game 1
4 Gordon fails physical and is released by KC
5 Pats pick up Gordon
6 Gordon sets NFL record and scores 6 TDs and racks up 250 yards vs Pittsburgh

No, it's really not, at all You're trying to compare apples to antique metal door handles, and you're whining that the door handles aren't as tasty in a pie.
This is like a non-sequitur translated into Hebrew then to Portuguese then back to English.

But to the extent I can make sense of it at all, I assume you're going back to your previous point that bringing up Hill here is the equivalent of complaining that "sentencing for grand theft is too harsh because some guy was found not guilty of tax evasion." Two problems with that. One, I was referencing Hill (and Brady) as part of a larger point that league discipline is arbitrary and capricious, regardless of what area of discipline we're discussing. Two, specific to your point, I'm not addressing "sentencing" here, I'm discussing the process of arriving at decisions. In Hill's case, absolute proof is apparently required to do anything at all; in Brady's case, there was instead a fog of "more probable than nots" and "generally awares" and who knows what else. In your comparison, it would be like if the jury for the car thief had to clear a standard of "reasonable doubt," and in the tax evasion case they just had to decide, eh, he probably did it.

That's a direct comparison in process, and in no way analogous to your musings about apples and door handles and pie.

Is this playing at 2x? That turtle is flying!

Happy Birthday Tom a sober reinstated motivated Gordon would be a heck of a present.

I might be wrong, but is it (still) true that non-Pats primetime games are ratings bombs in the Boston market ever since Defamegate? It's something small, but it's something.

I looked at my ex like she had two heads when she suggested watching NFL that wasn't one of our teams. I don't know about the Pats fans here, but if it's not a Pats game, I don't watch it, including the Super Bowl. **** the rest of the league.

Don't worry, we’ll turn you into a degenerate gambler by the end of the summer. Come fall, you’ll be watching the Tampa Bay Bucs play the NY Giants, with the mortgage squarely on the line.

Watch out. My 2018 predictions were pretty good last year. I might just be in living in TFB's moat house before long.

...actually that's how it starts doesn't it?

Would it be too much to think that the Goddell and his henchmen would have a response already typed up ?.....I guess from most posts this just means JG has applied for reinstatement but it may come with conditions from the League eg in bed by 10 and not even a sniff of anything or it's a lifetime ban ?;);)

I hope he is better regardless of how fast we want him on the field

Being proactive is not one of the NFL's strong suits.

The problem with Bedard is that he has turned into at times very clickbaity who often sells his speculation with the same tone as actual legit info. I mean I understand he has to pay for the bills at BSJ but still..

I subscribe and don’t see it that way at all. He doesn’t get paid for clicks; he gets paid for subscriptions. The moment I see him as just another Twitter twit my subscription ends. Why pay for that when you can get plenty of that for free. What you have to get over is your view that anything that’s not Belichick sycophantic as click baiting.

I'd be shocked if we hear within the first 30-40 days about anything. Might even wait out the full 60 days for it.
No question Goody will take his own sweet time.
