NFL Trade Deadline “Ideas”

I love all the trade talk. It’s fun, but I’m a bit jaded. I can’t recall a year where so many trade conversations have been leaked. Usually it’s just reporters speculating. This year a lot of these conversations are being reported as fact. I call ******** on most of it. What “premium” receivers are out there that didn’t play today? That’s what would happen if you were gonna trade a “premium” guy, right?

I can see a few small trades going down, but not any blockbusters. Teams may be out of the hunt, but they’ve still gotta fill the seats.

Not true. Majority of game tickets for this season are already sold. People showing up to the games, that’s a different story. It’s next season they need to worry about

Okay, sure. Let’s look at it this way. You’ll take a big hit to the bottom line of all that OBJ gear thrown on clearance for all those folks that are filling those seats. I’m just saying that it’s hard to believe we are going to see even close to the activity being reported out there. I hope I’m wrong. It would be fun.

I'm still a firm believer that getting a top TE would make our offense unstoppable - not a WR. Anyone remember that 2011 offense with Hernandez and Gronk? Now imagine having 2 great TE's AND a running game AND a Top WR group.

That's unstoppable.

"Top TEs" - guys who can block as well as catch - are much, much rarer than top WRs. That said, if there's a chance to pry Kittle away from the Niners ...

Kittle is about the only TE that I think would be worth trading for.

Not to mention, they have to know about twice as much from a "do your job" standpoint.

It blows my mind how top tight ends make about, literally half as much as top WR's

I know trades will the Bills and in conference teams are rare, but not unheard of. With that being said, I cant help myself but to wonder if we could pry away Charles Clay from the Bills for something.

He's having a down year (held to under 20 yards in 5 games), but I think he still has something in the tank if you were to stick him in this offense. He's been one of the better balanced tightends in the league for awhile. I think he would be a great addition to this team. Solid vet on a decent contract.

A Day 2 pick for Collins? o_O

Landon Collins for a Day 2 Pick would be a S T E A L

Collins was the 33rd pick, so no 5th year option. He is set to be a unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. If he walks in Free Agency, the most the Giants will get is maybe a 4th round comp pick (more likely a 5th rd pick) in the 2020 NFL draft. So any 4th rd pick should tempt the Giants to move him.

I think the Pats have to make a move on defense and Collins would be great. They are good enough as is to win the AFC but a team like the Rams or Saints could be a problem. I can see Brees or Goff picking our secondary apart.

Should have happened last year. They wasted a season of a pretty talented roster with his clown show.

IDK. I was always under the impression that Haslam, Dorsey, Haley and Williams were the clowns, and that Jackson was just a guy they kept around to follow the elephants with a pooper-scooper.

So let’s entertain the OBJ trade.. does anyone know what his football IQ is? Because I’ve never seen a WR pick up our playbook mid season quick (Gordon may be the exception)

I’d love for us to bring in Reddick and Collins. Personally those two I think would give us a better chance of going Super Bowl than OBJ would. I’d take all three happily

Riddick got 30 total defensive snaps for the Cards through the first 4 games this season, and was pretty much ST-only. Beginning in wk-5, he's played 100% of the D-snaps, nearly 300 total. During these last four games, he's posted 28 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 QBH, 4 PDs and a FF. I don't think Riddick's going anywhere out of Arizona.
