Definitely has excellent speed, maybe not 4.33-4.35 speed like Cooks and Dorsett, but I believe he ran a 4.42, which is still elite speed.
i think he’s way faster than Cooks and Dorsett.

He’s going to be an all purpose weapon for the Pats.

I'm not sure it's only a few. I've been hearing the exact same sentiment multiple years in a row. Even a few days ago. I guess the saying is true "repeat a lie often enough and soon you'll believe it."
I agree it has gone on for a few years.

They say that because the Chargers win almost every year the “hottest team in the NFL award”.....who didn’t make the playoffs. Lol.

Only a few mediots say the Chargers have a “talented” roster and they don’t as a whole. They have some niece pieces on defense. Their offense on the other hand, is horrendous.

i’ll never understand why there are some mediots in love with Philip Rivers. He’s an awful teammate and is a perineal loser.

Everyone in LA are jumping on the Rams bandwagon.
Horrendous offense? Their WRs are better than ours, they have a very good RB, and Phillip Rivers is a top 10 QB. They aren't a top 5 offense by any means, but you must have some underlying grudge to say their offense is horrendous.

LMFAO Trent Brown is Godzilla 2018

It's a significant part.

If an offense is frequently going 3-and-out inside their own 30, the punter will (hopefully) have a big leg and a very high gross average yardage per punt. That's not the Patriots' offense, typically.

If the offense is more frequently punting from somewhere between the 45s, a "big leg" isn't nearly as important as having the distance control to consistently place the ball inside the opponent's 15 or closer (and away from the returner). That's going to kill the punter's gross average yardage number.

Distance control, and directional control, are much more critical than max distance, specially for the Pats.
Agree but losing gross distance 4 consecutive years is interesting. I think there is something to that stat. Does it mean everything? Of course not.

His net yards have stayed about the same.

With that said the # of return yards on his puts has gone down significantly. Thats a testament to his accuracy/direction/distance control plus well designed coverage schemes and personnel.

2017 4th in total yards 13th in ppg. Middle of the pack offense, not horrendous. Pretty good stable of WRs if Keenan allen stays healthy, and gordon is an ok back. Main problem is that oline. Just can’t get any stability there.

I’d like to think that he is faster, but he’s not. Cooks and Dorsett ran the fastest 40s at their respective combines (I believe) they have 2 of the top 15 fastest times ever at the combine. Though 4.42 is blazing fast, it still doesn’t surpass Cooks and Dorsett’s 40 times. That being said, Patterson’s running with the ball in his hands AFTER the catch, is way more explosive than either Cooks or Dorsett, due to his ability to cut, and his overall strength. That being said, if any of those 3 get past the secondary, they are gone.

Then why can’t they make the playoffs? Injuries aren’t an excuse, every team has them.

Yeah. Since, AFAIK, no one tracks where punts are made from on the field, it's somewhat helpful to consider things like touchback percentage, the percentage of FC versus Return Attempts, etc. to get a more well-rounded impression of a punter's situational effectiveness. Allen has consistently been among the top 10 punters in the league by such metrics.

Of course, the unanimous assumption is that "Bojo" was brought in purely as competition for Allen. OTOH, the Pats knew that they were going to have an extensive competition for Punt Returner this Camp - meaning, potentially, a lot more punting than usual. IOW, it's possible that Bojo was brought in mostly as a "camp leg."

I love watching Philip Rivers play (sarcasm) because you will get at least one melt down out from him on the field per game.

Their WR’s are okay. Gordon is average and they loved playing a TE who should’ve retired years ago instead of playing Henry. Now he’s gone for the year. Nobody on offense should scare you besides Allen.

They may move the ball, but they really struggle to score points. And if they really have a “talented roster” as people say, that means Phillip Rivers is not getting it done at QB.

Agree. I don't see Allen losing his job to Bojo.

Seems to me Ryan's numbers are fine.

Ryan Allen

He’s not faster and it’s not even close.

But he’s much bigger and is elusive.

Yeah, I don't think Patterson has ever really been known (at the NFL level) to be a burner deep threat. He seems to be making his biggest plays while catching short passes and using his size/movement to turn it into YAC. This is based on the highlight reels though, which admittedly don't always tell the story.

Still, if he can be an elite KR, a gadget guy, and contribute in a Stallworth-Lite style on offense, the deal was great.
