So Van noy/Hogan completely off the injury report? that is BIG news for both the offense and defense going forward.

Hogan will give brady another reliable target and will take pressure off of Cooks.

And we saw what the linebacker corps looked like when van noy was injured...

For Hogs not to be even listed is remarkable.

Great news on KVN.

Let's GO!!!!!

They all want to play. There will be 7 inactives. Most will come from the injury report. You pick.

This time inactive list will be in most part a true barometer of what the playoffs team will look like.

There are 55 players in my estimate competing for 46 spots (53 on the current roster + MM and Reilly)

If MM is activated and/or Reilly is promoted by 4pm that would mean they are making the active team and Grissom and Britt are out IMO.

3 most likely inactives are Croston, Harris and Gillislee.
Next one will be one of Branch / RJF.
Last 3 spots will likely be between Britt*/Hollister, Grissom*/Lee, Burkhead/ST.

Grigsby could be the ST guy losing out since he's not playing on D but he really played well since he came in (much better than Grissom in my view).

There should be likely at least one surprise inactive..

I am thinking that Gilly practicing is largely for scout team purposes. No other back on the team is near Henry's size.

He still has to be healthy enough to return to practice which is an important milestone.

I think Harris has a chance to be active in the upcoming two games. There is a place for a player like him especially against the Titans.

The luxury problems of having full attendance.

If MM is activated

I'd be shocked if he is activated. It would mean either MM is looking outstanding at practice, Hogan being ready is mirage, or Dorsett-Britt are looking quite poor in practice.
Otherwise keep MM as a freeby practice player and let the decision be made after the Titans game (a decision could end up a default based upon post game injury status).

That’s probably the way they’ll end up going. Having options is likely the better choice. It also avoids the need to make a corresponding roster move today.

The other side of the coin is that he’s probably more in tune with what they want route-wise, and it could be beneficial to try and knock some rust off before next week’s much more difficult matchup. While Dorsett has been doing a good job of drawing coverage, it’s not like he’s setting the world on fire as a bona fide receiving threat. Of course, the coaches may feel differently.

you show the ridiculousness of the this statistic by pointing out that you can interpret the results 3 or 4 different ways to a zero conclusion.

Exactly my point.

The distance calculations may have been the output of software analysis of digital video, or may have been derived from data generated by the NFL's "shoulder pad chip" technology (RFID). Either way, this particular stat was likely the result of the "new toy" effect - as in, "Wow! Cool! What else can we do with all this new raw data?" - which is why we're being treated to such juicy tidbits such as what top speed various players achieved during a game expressed in MPH (when yards/second might be a marginally more useful comp).

The truly depressing part of this "NFL technology revolution" is that 2018 game broadcasts are likely to be overflowing with even more useless numbers presented as advanced analysis and graphics that take even more screen time away from the field.

It’s kind of one of those “I’ll believe it when I see it” type of situations, especially with full attendance and a multitude of options. We’ll have to see. He may simply be playing a backup/deep roster role here this season, and I’m fine with that if it’s the case.

One could argue that having more athletic LBs is the way to go against Mariota, and it’s hard to imagine Harris getting the nod over Roberts. We’re expecting a larger role for Harrison. M.Flowers will almost certainly be used. KVN is returning. I just don’t see much of a role for Harris, although I could be wrong of course.

I just don't see how Harris is even a long shot for active status unless injury causes multiple inactives. Running the numbers:
Specialists: 3 locks
Offense: 2 QB, 3 TE locks, 7 OL locks
WR: 6 locks of DA, Cooks, Hogan, Britt, Dorsett, Slater.
RBs: 5 locks of Lewis, Bolden, Develin, White, Burk. (1) Gill is inactive
OL: (1) Croston inactive
26 total for specialists and offense(STs/offense). 2 inactives.

Defense has 25 players with 5 needing to be inactive:
Secondary-9: Gilmore, Butler, Jones, Rowe, Bademosi, DMac, Chung, Richardson, Harmon are locks. (1)King ???
LBs-5: KVN, Roberts, Flowers, Harrison, Lee are locks (2)Grigsby, Harris ???
DL 6: Flowers, Guy, Brown, Wise, Butler, Branch, (locks). (2) RJF, Grissom ???

My memory might be slipping on the roster but the inactives equal Harris, Grissom, Grigsby, Gill, Croston, RJF, King. I don't know, maybe Richardson is inactive? for RJF or maybe for KIn or Grissom STs? But I cannot find any mix/numbers that results in Harris making it to the active roster.

More like, "no RB on the Pats is anywhere near Henry's size."

Henry measures 6025/250.

Gillislee is the tallest Pats RB at 5111 (bit only ~210). Bolden is the heftiest Pats RB at 5110/220.

Better comps than Gillislee for scout team purposes might include Jake Hollister (6032/242, with similar testing numbers), or Marquis Flowers (6025/245, also with similar testing numbers), or even our old pal, Geneo Grissom (6033/260).

My point was that based on matchups against the Titans he could be used effectively. And if there is a role for him then there will be a spot on the roster. If he doesn't fit into the gameplan then he will be inactive obviously..

There is always space on the fringes of the 53. Especially if Chatham is right about it being mostly a running game I dont see a reason why you can't sacrifice a player like e.g. Britt who will most probably have no value whatsoever.

IDK, between Roberts and Harris, which is more likely to get too aggressive and overrun the play allowing Mariota (or Henry) to escape?

If the others are healthy, there is no reason for Gillislie to be active.

I really thought Gilly was a better RB than he has shown. I really had him as a speed guy and not a lumbering runner. His running style fooled me.

long Allan Branch Inactive?? Branch have been a Beast in the Playoffs for us. I know Brown and Guy are playing very well but you never have enough cloggers in the middle.
