Is Gilmore on ice?

He’s got this season to show that he’s not just athletically gifted but also smart/mature enough to be coachable and to apply his position knowledge to the role carved out for him.

“Worlds dumbest” can turn into “holy cow” if he gets it. Think of something you’re really good at, and that you were the best at, all through school, college, and at the start of a professional career. You’ve been validated your whole life. Then you go to Corporation Inc. and they show you a bunch of meaningless corporate strategic plans every week. And they tell you all about how they want to fit your “particular set of skills” into the plan.

But it looks to you like “do really generic work well for 3 weeks a month, then maybe 1 week a month you can do something you can sink your teeth into.”

Some people will get it, adjust, and thrive. Others will try and wash out. They’ll tell themselves they’d rather be personally significant in some smaller company.

In football it’s assumed that you’ll adjust to the new employer, but actually doing it might take time.

Let’s not close the book on him yet.

If bb is true to his word and only the best players play, then Gilmore, the worlds dumbest db, should never leave the bench.

However I doubt Gilmore is traded as bb collects db’s, since you can never have enough good ones on your roster.

Ps: Gilmore may or may not be in concussion protocol, but I am willing to bet gilmore is getting classroom work on communicating and mastering the playbook. Bb is going to exorcize all the sexy rexy out of Gilmore and teach this imbecile how to do it the Patriots way, even if it takes the rest of the season.

Pss: when it comes to butler this offseason - bb should pay the man and make him a happy patriot for life!

I wont even get into the stupidity of calling Gilmore the worlds dumbest DB especially with Mr. "Lets pull someone off a pile after a third & long stop in the playoffs" Rowe on the roster as well but for ****s sake you can not fake being in the concussion protocol. This is not an "injury" that is on the injury report that keeps someone on the shelf but actually involves independent, professional experts. Like or hate Gilmore all you want but please stop those conspiracy theories about his concussion.

Just watched coaches film Carolina, Tampa, and some of the KC game. Gilmore is good to very good in man to man (no help over the top). Maybe 3 short catches in 3 games. In zone and stacked wr's there were problems....his fault only or team? Tackling...he is not interested in doing esp if it is not his man. Butler beaten all over the field.

Heya, so I know you're suffering from issues with time dilation from a severe blow to the head, but in case you aren't aware Gilmore played 5 games for the Patriots, not a full season which is the minimum of what it would take for that sort of evaluation.

Best of luck in your recovery!

Pats players doing a lot of talking about Bademosi competing and laying it on the line. Latest one from Slater. Wooh, Read between the lines fellas. I'm more right than wrong.

I’m trying to read between the lines, and your premise is still impossible. Belichick doesn’t get to put a player into the concussion protocol or delay him being cleared.

Nothing is ever as it seems. In politics (most of the time), in sports (a lot of the time), and life in general (often times).

Unless you think Belichick put out a 'Free Birdseed' sign and dropped an anvil on Gilmore's head himself you're premise is as thin as this reply.

Oh, and it’s a shame that this thread had to be from the faking injury angle, because a normal, straight forward thread about trading Gilmore would have been perfectly edgy enough. Instead it crossed the line into stupid.

I’m not sure why anyone would bring up some conspiracy theory about a guy being placed in the concussion protocol, but there may be some debate when he returns about who lines up where and who plays more in what situations.

Now, some including myself have shown some concern for his health and how serious his concussion is, but that’s altogether different.

So the 'Foxboro flu' is urban legend? Come on now.

Concussions are handled completely different than every other injury. You can fudge the injury report on everything else, but concussions are out of the team’s control. Gilmore was on the injury report with an ankle injury, so your scenario would have made a hell of a lot more sense if it was just that.

Pats doin fine wo him, let him heal his head

Too much invested in Gilmore from BB. It's unfortunate he went down after a solid performance vs TB and would have been a confidence booster if he didn't get concussed. If anything I'm liking Bademosi & Jones backing up Rowe, SG and giving Patricia more sub pkgs or solid back ups down road. Its a long season and knowing they can be counted on is Huge.

Or people are just blaming every play on him because he is their favorite target.

What’s nice is you now have Gilmore to man up on the WR1 and butler, badmofo and Rowe to matchup with others.
I could see us playing all 4 corners together on 3rd and long or 2 minute rather than having 3 safeties.

I could see more 3 corner nickel base against passing teams too.
