The Patriots signed WR Andrew Hawkins

If the QB is decent this Guy puts up decent number see 2102 with Andy Dalton and 2104 Brain Hoyer. Can only imagine what he will do with the GOAT! Hawkins seems like he wants a SB Ring. Would love to see how he looks in the Return Game. Pats Roster is ridiculously Stacked!

The fact that you wrote both years like that makes me wonder if you might actually believe those were the years.

This signing makes more long term off the field sense for Hawkins than on the field sense.

Unless the Pats are looking a year-or-two ahead and thinking about life post-Edelman and post-Amendola.

Also intriguing to me the thought of putting three very fast (sub 4.35) receivers on the field at once, between Hogan, Cooks and Hawkins.

Hogan is not that fast - he is a 4.5 guy.

Pats sign yet another short 5'7 slot receiver?

Cool video but this doesn't make a lot of sense unless Hawkins can also return kicks/punts.

Hawkins is 31, a few months older than Edelman and only a few months younger than Amendola. This isn't a move for the future, he's a camp body whose chances of making the roster are questionable even if there's an injury since he'd still be competing with younger players with possible special teams value like Lucien, Street. and Carr.

Amendola is very valuable in big games, as we all saw in our last two SB triumphs, and Pats obviously appreciate what he brings to the table so I don't think it's a message to him but just a depth and insurance move in case of injuries. One year, vet minimum salary, zero risk.

Maybe, but Andrew Hawkins is 30 now. He seems more like "insurance, with a good chance of not even cracking the 53" than "looking ahead a year or two".

Belichick likes to have injury insurance. If someone is injured in camp or the preseason, Hawkins would make a reasonable addition, or good competiton for a reasonable addition.

Has he ever returned punts? I couldn't find any stat but that might be a way to make the team especially since he has had very few fumbles in his career......

So who gets cut?

If Amendola truly has to fight for his job, I wonder if he can actually make it through the preseason without getting injured. This preseason is going to very entertaining.

Thanks dude was typing fast at work.

So we got 3 pages of talking about a camp body signing who only has a shot if there are multiple injures. We truly are in the blackhole of the offseason right now..
