The Following teams should be selling the farm for Jimmy

Can't believe the Jags drafted Bortles 3rd overall. Same draft as Jimmy. In fact, the first two QBs from that draft were Bortles (3) and Manziel (22). The next 3? Teddy Bridgewater (32), Derek Carr (36), Jimmy G (62).

As already mentioned by others, in-season trade doesn't make much sense unless it's an incredible offer. But in the off-season, I'd also add the Redskins to the list. Kirk Cousins is on a franchise player contract which is up at the end of the year, will be around $25M to re-franchise, has been pretty mediocre and very inconsistent.

Outside shot might be the Vikings. Read that there's a chance Teddy never comes back from that injury. Bradford is under contract for 2017 but only $4M dead cap hit vs. $13M saved in salary if they cut him. If the new year they aren't feeling totally comfortable, they might take the leap, although they're missing their 2017 1st rounder so they may not have the ammo to pull off the deal.

I suspect the two most likely possibilities, assuming he leaves, are ones who don't need new QBs (TEN and DET).

I think MacDaniels has learned from Belichick that you don't just take the next offer you wait for the right situation, that's why there is zero chance MacDaniels would go to a dumpster fire like Indy.

As far as Garrapolo goes of the teams mentioned the most intriguing to me was Arizona, where it does look like Palmer is at the end of the road but they have a good coach and very good talent. The problem for them will be the price because they are picking late they will have to give two high picks to get Garrapolo, and while I can see them being willing to give a first two of them may be too rich for their blood.

Market value will be determined by Dallas when they trade Romo.

I think Garoppolo is worth more than Romo. He's younger and...

Great movie btw, for those who haven't seen it.

I think it would be really interesting to see what some team would give us for Tommy LomBrady, even at his advanced age.

He's the second best QB in the AFC East. They won't trade him.

We don't know what Bob Quinn in DET thinks of his QB Matthew Stafford.

Statistically he is a verg good QB, plays hurt and is entering the prime of his career.

He is also has a $22m cap hit next year and if traded/cut, they save ~$17m.

Stafford's agent is Tom Condon is the Scott Boras of the NFL. If there is a penny to be had, he'll take it.

BB and Condon didn't exactly see eye to eye on contracts.

As we all know, Quinn has Patriot DNA.

Cardinals - Palmer done
Ravens - Flacco is a dinosaur who had one decent moment
Chiefs - Smith plays like a girl
Redskins - Cousins is a FA after the season and not the answer
Saints - could move on from Brees after 2017

the teams that completely suck should not bother

Trade anything for him
Bears - Cutler will be gone
Niners - the cupboard is bear
Jags - Bortles stinks
Arizona - Palmer is done, they have the defense and need a QB

Should trade for him, but probably won't
Browns - Kessler has potential and they will have the #1 pick
Dolphins - Tannenhill is a dumb QB
Bills - Tyrod is average at best
Giants - Eli is old and looks bad

Wildcards
Chiefs - Reid wants to win, A Smith is solid, but he knows that if he wants to win a SB he needs to upgrade
Chargers - If they falter in the second half, why not trade Rivers rebuild with a young QB (you have the o-line and some weapons on offense)
Trade Jimmy to AZ for a #1 and Chandler Jones

The following teams should hold onto Jimmy G because great QB's don't grow on trees, and you don't know how long your current legend of a QB will play:

New England.

This is the Jets' farm:

Do not want.

Wow!

Still do not want, but it looks much better than I expected.

Where are the noxious weeds, fetid water holes, flies, and dead animals?

With each passing week, franchise quarterback prospects become more and more scarce. At this point, a strong argument can be made that no potential signal-caller available to the 2017 draft class is worth a high first-round selection.

As such, alternative options become more attractive. The most promising avenue may come via trade with the New England Patriots for the services of backup Jimmy Garoppolo.

Yet there are more than a handful of teams in search of improved quarterback play. The Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers will be the most desperate to upgrade the position.

What could the Patriots get in return for Garoppolo if they dangle him at the trade deadline or even wait until the offseason?

"You get a first and a second in a heartbeat, but you ask for two firsts," an anonymous NFL executive told ESPN.com's Mike Sando. "That is where the divide is. And the middle ground might be a first and two seconds. San Francisco got two seconds for Alex Smith, but he had already failed."

So much uncertainty surrounds the position that it's a risk to make a play for the Patriots backup or wait for a signal-caller in next year's draft. But Garoppolo remains the safer bet.

"We are so quick to make up our minds when we don't really know. At least you know Garoppolo can do it," the exec continued. "You don't know if he can play, but he is performing."

I would hope the Pats would add a trade stipulation to prevent the team acquiring Garoppolo from flipping him to an AFCE team for X years.

Otherwise what would stop the 49ers, for example from acquiring Garoppolo for say two 1st round picks, from turning around and trading him to the Rats for two 1sts and a 2nd?

I suspect the two most likely possibilities, assuming he leaves, are ones who don't need new QBs (TEN and DET).

He was rumored to be interviewing with Tennessee last offseason but never wound up doing so. Also, BB places emphasis on stable ownership when advising potential HC. The Titans ownership is a mess right now and the NFL is trying to get them into compliance, and there are lots of rumors that they're going to force them to sell. Bon Jovi of all people was quoted in the media last week as saying he's not interested in buying the Titans now because they're not for sale yet; he responded because there are rumors he's going to go strong after the Titans should they actually be put up for sale.

So until all of that is resolved, I'd be surprised if Tennessee would be an option for McDaniels. Besides, they're at .500 now showing lots of signs of improvement this year.

From the trade of Lord Favrequad to the JEST:

The NFL Network also is reporting that the Packers took great pains to ensure that Favre would not be traded to the Vikings by inserting a "poison pill" in the deal. If Favre were to be traded to Minnesota, New York would have to surrender three first-round picks to Green Bay.

He will be a free agent too soon not to trade him this off season. The only way the Pats hang on to Jimmy G. is if god forbid he has to step in THIS season

It's not a good year for QBs. Those guys may be forced up due to the position but there's no true top of the draft QBs this year.
Totally agree. Was going to post something similar. QB prospects are sub-par this year. Trubisky is a wild card though but not wild enough to be a top 10 pick.

The Bears are the perfect match:

-Jimmy G played HS and college football in Illinois
-Based off twitter, the fans want him
-He wouldn't be short on weapons if Jeffery re-signs (Jeffery, White, Meredith, Miller, Howard)
-The Bears look like they will finish with a top 3-5 pick
-http://sportsmockery.com/2016/09/ryan-pace-obsessed-finding-right-qb-bears/2/

Does that sound like a GM that wants to deal with/gamble on a rookie QB?

We'll have the leverage. You want Jimmy G? Give us your top 3 pick to select the best RB prospect in a decade or our best pass rusher since Tippett. Otherwise no deal.

Makes sense to me, because Jimmy's value to them could go beyond football. A promising young Chicagoland native with a megawatt smile at QB is exactly what their deeply disgruntled fanbase needs. Who in this draft could change the narrative and build excitement for the Bears more than him?
