to me it's the pass rush from the interior D line. Virtually non existent. Malcolm Brown got bullied yesterday and Branch has been non existent. Anyone know what the patriots rank in sack totals so far in 2016?

Also why do O Coordinators keep picking on Logan Ryan every week?

Overall I would say our D is a steady good D, but id like to see a member from our secondary step up and become a ball hawk. Create more turnovers.

I thin the defense played fine outside of the missed tackles. They adjusted well once they figured out that Ryan was getting beat all over the field.

You got to give it the McCoy, that guy is one of the top running backs in the league. He is fast, agile, has great vision, and difficult to tackle. Oh, and he can catch too. It is a difficult match up.

As for the complaints about giving Taylor too much time and pass rush. You guys realize the Patriots are keeping him in the pocket on purpose, right? The controlled pass rush is slower, but it keeps him from running for long gains. Also, complaints about zone defense.....again, it is to contain Taylor.

Patriots gave up 16 points, despite being completely inept on offense. That is pretty good in my book.

Yesterday they played contain against a mobile QB so the pass rush was not there. If Ryan keeps giving up yardage, then O Coordinators will continue to pick on him. Ryan gave up 70 yards but a lot of that was underneath stuff. I don't recall the pats secondary getting burned on a big play other than the 3 and 20, which to me was a turning point in the game. Buffalo just dominated time of possession by playing dink and dunk - kind of like what we usually do.

Two words: Logan. Ryan.

The reason they pick on him is because he's not a good CB in this league.

We have great speed on defense and BB focused on a defense with speed that can cover the middle of the field and big guys that can stuff runs down the middle. If the offense had the ball more perhaps we would be saying it was an ok game, but the game was controlled by the Bills

The inability to tackle thing happened in the Miami game as well...surprised to see that on a Belichick team

I agree, McCoy was great and he was a difference-maker as well.

Allowing 15.2 ppg good for 4th best

Allowing 46% 3rd down conversion rate...28th worst

Allowing 10.3yp catch....good for 4th best

Middle of the road in all other categories.

Overall, very erratic.

The CBs are left out on their own, they have ZERO help from the safeties. McCourty was again absent for the entire game yesterday! He makes no plays, for a guy with a 9.5 million dollar salary, maybe he could at least break up a pass now and then. He had 5 INTs his rookie year, and has 4 since! Think about that, easily one of the highest paid players at his position and he makes no game changing plays! Sacks, forget about it, Tackles for loss? He has averaged one a year for the last four years!!! Every shot downfield you can see him coming into the frame at least three steps too late. I fail to see how anyone thinks he is a difference maker, all he is, is a bloated knee jerk overpayment after they lost out on Revis.

It's kind of weird because i know statistically we rank as one of the top units in the league as far as points allowed, but to me, it seems like we just have a really difficult time getting off the field on 3rd down.

I agree that our Cb play has me a little worried, if Ryan isn't letting up a big play, then it's Coleman or our third Cb and Bulter has given up his fair share of plays as well this year.

I'm not too concerned with our pass rush, yesterday we were trying to keep Taylor in the pocket, similar to what we'll see when we play Russell Wilson.

To me the third down conversion rate is the most problematic. No wonder buffalo dominated TOP yesterday.

Health. It means everything.

1) Pass rush
2) Conservative scheme
3) Tackling

Offense is the best defense. They will be fine now that the GOAT is back and our offense can function like normal.

Wow.
We play a scheme that requires McCourty's coverage to take away the deep ball, and also at times play man coverage. We allow almost no deep passes, and I can't remember the last time McCourty was beaten in man, and you are complaining because he doesn't get sacks and tackles for a loss?
It is hard to intercept a pass if the QB doesn't throw to your man because he is covered. All those deep passes that don't get thrown against us, would result in a lot of points against us a few ints if we had a bad deep safety.

they went trick or treat early and ate a lot of butterfingers
