It really makes the most sense. Why give away a free practice spot for the next 2 weeks, force someone off the roster and send MM after being back for only 2-3 days right into match action.

And they have until January 17th to make a decision on him. I wouldn't at this point be surprised to see them wait that long.

Smart not to shoot the bullet now and wait until the playoffs but getting him some game action now - even for a few plays wouldnt be the worst idea

Maybe Belichick will play Mitchell disguised as Britt. Grow him a beard, have him miss a route or two to make it seem like Britt is on the field.

Patriots aren't going to downgrade someone on a Saturday before a home game unless the person had a major setback that day itself. You'll note that most Saturday downgrades happen before a road game - where the team decides not to have the player travel with them (often times fearing that being cramped on the plane will hurt the injury recovery process) so they can't in good faith continue to say there is a chance he'll play.

Mitchell is a special case because he's on IR which is why Saturday mattered for him, as he needed to be activated by 4:00 to even have the chance to play this week.

I guess Hogan sits this one out as well, weather is going to be brutal and there is no reason to rush him back only to have a setback.

Let Chris Hogan knock the rust off in practice. We need him for Three Games to Glory. Sunday would be a nice game for Kenny Britt to receive increased snaps.

At this point, they might as well wait the whole 2 weeks. Whether Mitchell is activate to the roster or not, it won't make a difference with how and when he practices. Keeping the extra body around for practices won't hurt anything.
