Pats cut Purcell from the Practice Squad again on 11/22
Pats signed Reedy to the PS on 11/22.
Patriots are placing Nate Ebner and Martellus Bennett on the IR. 11/27 or 11/28.
My guess is that Grissom and either Will Tye or one of the DBs will be back signed.
What does that say about David Jones & Demarius Travis that Bill chose to sign some blown-up SS or other called Nicholas Grigsby from the Murderer-Worshippers PS than either of them?
Well it says that you don't know who Grigsby is since he's played LB almost exclusively. It says that the two guys you mentioned would likely not be able to help emergency depth at LB which could be short Van Noy and Reilly for at least 1 week.
Updated with the additions of Grigsby and King.
Interesting that they added King who was in TC with them and had spent time on the PS but had been released back at the beginning of October. King played OG exclusively for Purdue.
Grigbsy - 6'00 2/8" - 220 lbs - 32 1/8" arms
20 - 2.57
10 - 1.56
Bench - 21
Vert - 36 1/2"
Broad - 10'04
Shuttle - 4.27
3 Cone - 6.90
Grigsby played Sam and Star LBs in College as well as 1 game at ILB. Was named one the Special Teams Captains at Pitt as a Junior ( only Junior named that year). Has plenty of experience on Special Teams. Has experience rushing the passer and in coverage..
I think that the signing of Grigsby speaks more to the the fact that Reilly won't be available this week than it does to where D. Jones or D. Travis are in terms of development with the team.
Patriots Make A Series of Roster Transactions
- DE Geneo Grissom promoted to 53-man roster
- WR Bernard Reedy promoted to 53-man roster
- DE Ricky Jean-Francois released
- G Jason King released
- DL Marcus Hardison signed to Practice Squad
Eric Lee has #55
Most famously worn by Willie McGinest; other #55's include Don Blackmon, Brandon Spikes, Junior Seau, and most recently Jonathan Freeny and Cassius Marsh.
Bernard Reedy gets #17
A very cursed uniform number for the Patriots. Put it this way: the best #17's in team history were Aaron Dobson and Mike Taliaferro. Also worn by Chad Jackson.
#50 goes to Nicholas Grigsby
That number went to Mike Vrabel and Rob Ninovich this century, Sam Adams in the 70s and Larry McGrew in the 80s.
No number assigned to Hardison yet.
#94 (Ricky Jean-Francois) and #72 (Jason King) are now available.
Updated with the Release of Ricky Jean-Francois and Jason King.
Updated with the additions of Reedy and Grissom to the 53.
Patriots bring back LB Jonathan Freeny
Two jersey updates.
Practice squad DT Marcus Hardison was assigned #96.
Best Patriot players to wear #96 were defensive ends Brent Williams ('86-'93) and Mike Jones ('94-'97). Most well known player was Adalius Thomas ('07-'09). More recently that uni has belonged to Jermaine Cunningham, Andre Carter, Sealver Siliga, Terrance Knighton, Darius Kilgo and Anthony Johnson.
LB Jonathan Freeny gets #44.
Freeny had #55 when he was previously with the Pats.
The best Patriot #44 was RB Don Calhoun ('75-'81); it was also worn by the infamous John Stephens ('88-'92). Heath Evans, James Ihedigbo and Zach Sudfeld are among those to wear #44 this millennium.
updated with the re-signing of Freeny and King.
The Patriots released Jonathan Freeny and Bernard Reedy. They also placed Cannon on the IR.
The Patriots signed Kenny Britt and re-signed Ricky Jean-Francois.
A few Jersey updates:
WR Kenny Britt will wear #85.
Most famously worn by Julius Adams and Nick Buoniconti.
Most recently worn by Chad Johnson, AH, Brandon Lloyd, Kenbrell Thompkins and Michael Williams.
DT Ricky Jean-Francois gets #94 once again.
Practice Squad DT Marcus Hardison was assigned #96.
Best: Brent Williams ('86-'93), Mike Jones ('94-'97) and Adalius Thomas ('07-'09).
Recent: Anthony Johnson, Darius Kilgo, Terrance Knighton, Sealver Siliga, Andre Carter and Jermaine Cunningham.
Number 17 remains cursed.

P Luke Prestridge, 1984
QB Jeff Carlson, 1992

WR Taylor Price, 2010-11
WR Greg Salas, 2012
WR Aaron Dobson, 2013-16
PR Bernard Reedy, 2017
The jersey that causes a Patriot player's careers to die.
I think it's time that fans have a ceremonial BURNING of #17 just to end the curse that it's under..
Updated with the Reedy / Hardison swap.
Don't understand why Bill finds it necessary to have 3 WRs, Thanksdad Ferentz, and something called Jomal Wiltz on the PS but Zero OTs, Zero DTs, Zero DEs and Zero LBs, especially those with coverage experience.
The Pats HAD a DT there and cut him. Typically the PS isn't JUST about player development, but also about players who give them something that helps them get ready for other teams.
Reedy is around in the even Amendola gets hurt.
McCarron is around because he could, very well, be the next Edelman-esque type player.
Jomal Wiltz has speed and coverage skills.
Pro Day takeaways: Iowa State's Wiltz shows off big-time speed
Besides 4.43 speed, he has a 37.5in vertical and a 6.8 3-cone..
Not once in the 13+ years that you've been whining about Belichick have you stopped to to a self-evaluation. Not once have you stopped and taken into consideration what they know that you don't. You're so worried about collecting talent that you never consider the team
Patriots sign LB James Harrison. Patriots release LB Trevor Reilly.
Don't be surprised if Reilly is re-signed to the PS tomorrow..
