Some people are just not happy with their lives, don't have any or many friends and their unhappiness is projected here with the team. Their constant negativity is a red flag and it gets worse when they see people here that are not wallowing in their own muck. Their negativity is not fun for the forum but asking them to change...I don't think they can do that.

It's not just here, it's social media in general. Positivity and being nice is lame - hot takes and being edgy is what gets me the most attention, and misery loves company.

I think that’s what most peoples’ problems are, in reality. Imagine living with roommates 12 months out of the year. You’re going to bicker. Taking the entire offseason off, for me, was amazing. Highly recommended. I don’t see a different board than any time throughout the board’s history. Some have always been more positive and some have always been more negative. Outside of that, I’m not sure how you could judge the motivations of someone you’ve never met.

When I came back before the preseason, the board was the same angry place as it was before I left. Time off helps put things in perspective - especially if you travel or take up other hobbies in the meantime.

Oh well. I’m done with this stupid ****ing argument. I’d rather just talk football. I’ll let you have the last word if you wish.

In all sides of any argument, the ones who keep coming back on any given thread are the ones HELL-BENT on changing another poster's opinion, knowing full well the other guy is not open to different view.

This includes many regulars who posted in this thread, who I do see entitled to go aggressive from the get go (and I understand why, but just bc "There are trolls!1!!" it's not a good excuse.) when they read something they disagree with. You really expect to have a productive conversation starting with "You are wrong"?

Also, if yall wanted no drama, the ignore, mute functions etc are so easily accessible, yall just need to admit it, it's okay: Some spice does wonders for the soul

This same stuff has been going on since the invention of the public area in the internet. The defenders of the faith (regardless of which faith) insist that the location is going downhill because of the negativity, regardless of how much negativity is, or is not, there. In reality, this site has far fewer aggressive back-and-forths than it used to, has had the allowed language carved way back, and is all but devoid (comparatively speaking) of the real flame wars that used to happen here. And that's been the trend all across the internet, as moderation has increased and become increasingly heavy-handed.

I mean, Nem alone would give more than 90% of the homer posters around here nowadays a life threatening case of the vapors, and that's without anyone agreeing with him, or going back at him, in the manner we used to around here. Like it or not, that's just how it's become.
