Not sure I buy that and I had a feeling someone would say this. There are alot of brady lovers here *as there should be* that respect/love brady more than belichick and wants brady to succeed. I don't think there are many if any here that want the pats to fail though. There might be some here that will call it a silver lining if they do fail so they can get to say, "I told ya so" similar to this post however.
Brady is now the enemy. I how he loses every game he plays until he retires as a Patriot.

NFL players don’t usually retire with a team. But regardless, what an awesome attitude towards the guy…”retire with my team as a gesture of goodwill because it’s all about you and new england! also, i hope you lose every game, you ****ing traitor!”

I'm not quite there yet... but guys on this board really sometimes make you feel like you get the Brady haters.

I still credit him for telling his dad that he'll put him in the home if he doesn't shut up about the Patriots... come to think of it, we haven't heard a lot from Sr. lately.

Hold on a sec.

I think we have 2 fan bases.

One demographic is absolutely entitled. Anything less than a Super Bowl win and 100% perfection in every facet of every ****ing thing with this team those fans act like their welfare checks were taken away.

The other fan base - because they have been through hard times appreciate what this team has accomplished the last 20 years. We certainly, when warranted can be/should be critical and angry but are much more understanding and accepting of the team's occasional missteps.
That’s an interesting take. I imagine some members of this board were children when the Pats won sb36 in 2002. They’ve known nothing but winning seasons so they’ve never experienced 1-15, 2-14 no hope in sight seasons. It does explain things.quit a bit.

I appreciate every dyamed game the Pats have played since I saw Joe Kapp at QB...which I DID NOT APPRECIATE!

Listen, fans had the right to some negativity. The team transformed from a historic juggernaut to a pretender overnight in 2019, lost its greatest player, then fielded a bottom 5 roster in 2020. We have the right to question most of the high profile draft picks from 2016 - 2019, and the botched Sanu trade.

Some stooges will throw an absolute hissy fit that you just said they wasted good draft picks from 2016-2019 (@RobertWeathers, @DaBruinz). They'll vehemently argue the Pats have drafted well and throw out a bunch of special teamers at you.

.

I’m sure Godell is saying the same thing in board meetings.

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Joker's ex fell into a pit if rabid man eating sharks which ripped her limb to limb causing her to bleed a long slow painful death.

Boo hoo hoo.

Exactly, what legendary players didn't sign a one year deal to retire with the team they had their most success with in the last couple of decades?

Also it's not my attitude towards Brady, I just hope that ever team but the Pats goes 0 and 17 and they get the 1 seed and superbowl win every year

What? Nothing rhymes with Irmalinda?
Irmalinda eats sperm-for-dinner.

Too forced. Best I could come up with. I was under a lot of pressure from Joker to come up with a vicious one, so I took the easy way out.

Yep. Doesn't mean they aren't as passionate, comitted fans. Just different.

I grew up an entitled Celtics fan. I was 9 for Larry Bird's rookie year. Once they started to slip and fall into obscurity I had a hard time with it.

1) Your kids were 8-6? Respect. But 11 kids, damn.
2) how long have you been a Patriots fan? Just curious. If you were in Bama in the 80s, did you jump on the bandwagon when the Pats got good?
I meant my kids were 8 & 6, no way in holy hades I would have 11 kids, I would be crazier than I am now!

After being a lifelong Falcons fan and being let down over and over and over again, I always had a back up team. But this year when the Patriots drafted Mac Jones 1 of my all time favorite players, and the fact that the Patriots have great organization that knows how to win even though at the time they weren't, I felt it was time to make the leap.

I also have a ton of respect for BB as a coach. I like his no BS attitude with the press just like Saban. Kraft is a great owner who keeps is hands out of the day to day operation, unlike Blank. The Patriots have fans all over the country, not just their region, I like that too. I actually put a lot of thought in which team I wanted to support, this has been a long time coming. TBH I was leaning Raven with Ozzie was the GM because of my Bama loyalty, but there is too trash there.

And I thought Joe Kapp would be the one to take the Pats to the promise land.

Ironically, half the NFL media intelligentsia are crediting Belichick for Mac's success, some literally saying Mac would fail with any other team. Not a good look for the Brady Bunch narrative. For the record, I think Mac would succeed anywhere eventually even though he landed in best place with the GOAT coach. They are both lucky to have each other (BB is lucky Mac fell to him), just like BB and TB were lucky to be together.
Brady is the GOAT.

Partly, he's the GOAT because he had a coach who recognized his talent and had the balls to keep him in there ahead of the franchise QB.

If Brady had been drafted by a crappy team, he wouldn't have sniffed a SB for the first few years.
If Brady had been drafted by a different team with a franchise guy - Peyton? - he'd have held a clipboard for four years. And then, would another team grab him when they could get a new shiny toy from college much cheaper?

Success is dependent upon talent, hard work, timing, and luck, and which of those four is the most important is situationally dependent.

the really good ones? Video.

The path of the righteous fan is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men...

We won 7 last year? I agree that's a tough stretch coming up. That said, Bucs, Cowboys, Panthers (sort of), Chargers, Browns, is 2 primo teams and 3 contendahs. Then there have been the Jete laughers, and one time we were just plain beat, against the Saints. The rest of the losses have been close (edit - I originally said the rest have been close, win or lose. Not so much when we won). In the last month, only the chargers gave us a game. So yeah we'll find out a lot about this team by that 2nd Bills game in a month. It might be an 0-4 stretch... but the trend looks right.

What gives me the most hope that this isn't some mirage is that the Pats could have won 3 of the 4 games they lost (not saying they SHOULD HAVE, but they certainly could have beaten Miami after pounding them for four quarters, could have beaten Tampa Bay with a made field goal of if the 3rd down pass wasn't blocked at the line, could have beaten the cowboys is the DPI was called on the guy who grabbed Agholor's face mask...woulda coulda shoulda).

But none of the games they've won could have gone the other way. Closest was the Chargers, and that was a 2-score game until the last few seconds - and the Pats outplayed them start to finish.

This is a damn good football team.

Jeez he was brutal. Millen was no picnic either.
But us oldtimers got to see some really good Patriots football in the mid-late 70's. A couple decent 80's teams.
Some of the 60's teams were good but the main thing was they were finally OUR teams- no more stinkin' NY Giants.
See my attitude toward the younger generations that have only known the BB/Brady Era is I feel sorry for them.
Huh?Whaat?!? I guarantee there is not ONE SINGLE Dynasty-era-only Pats fan who got to experience the same level of joy as me over the last 20 years. Not even close. Unless youve been through hard times you dont fully appreciate good times.

I always chuckle when I read sentences like this because it reminds me of all the talk how Peyton would have won 8 rings if Bill was his coach and Brady won in year one at age 43 with Peyton's former QB coach. LOL

The Texans game could have gone the other way.

Also those close losses to TB and Dal could have easily been 2+ score losses.

This team is on the rise I think, but the Titans and Bills games will tell us how good they really are right now.

To be fair that logic works for the coach too. Belichick coached a bad football team last season and they finished less than .500 so it's fair to say he would be Marvin Lewis and not a 6 time Super Bowl champ if he didn't have a really good team to coach.

But if you really put Brady on the Lions - who says he couldn't carry them to greatness? He took a middling Bucs team that hadn't made the playoffs in years and almost singlehandedly made them great IMO. He brings a lot more to a team than just what's on the field.

I agree. The Chargers appear to be frauds, the Panthers had a JV Darnold playing QB who was injured and the Browns are the very definition of a middler team although blowing them out on both sides of the ball was impressive. I agree about Tenn and the Bills. Those will be our truest tests to date. If we fare well vs those teams then I think we can start feeling good about a deep playoff run assuming health is on our side.
