I usually have some strong/hot takes for 53 man roster projections. I basically have no problem with most iterations this year. My only real strong take:

Keionta Davis > any bum/PS caliber WR

QB (2) T.Brady, B.Hoyer
RB (6) R.Burkhead, J.Develin, J.White, J.Hill, B.Bolden, S.Michel

Notes:
1. Sony Michel could start season on IR (no, I haven't heard anything, except for a few optimistic tweets, hasn't practiced since Aug 1.)
2. Decker is this year's David Harris. Jets let him go and it's not like they have any great receivers.
3. Allen is a vested veteran and could claim termination pay if on the Week 1 roster at $5 million a year. Izzo is a more than willing blocker and has showed signs that he can catch it a little too.
4. When Edelman is back, Lucien goes to PS.
5. I think Jordan Richards makes it for ST and his cringe-worthy defense
6. Not sure who returns punts, but couldn't bring myself to keep McCarron or Cyrus Jones. Maybe they keep McCarron instead of Lucien.
7. What do I know? Not much.

This is a fine placeholder. I have 3 issues, but probably wouldn't choose differently. We will likely get a couple of players from other teams.

ISSUES
1) I'm not sure that we will carry a PR on the active roster. McCarron is useless as a receiver and a waste of an active roster spot.
2) I hope that Butler can be an inside backup, needed if there is no Valentine.
3) I like your 6 corners, but I suspect that a ST/SS is more useful to Belichick.

Again, I am going with only 4 safeties and an extra pass rusher:

QB (2) T.Brady, B.Hoyer
RB (6) R.Burkhead, S.Michel, J.Develin, J.Hill, B.Bolden, J.White
WR (6) C.Hogan, P.Dorsett, M.Slater, R.McCarron, E.Decker, C.Patterson
TE (3) J.Hollister, D.Allen, R.Gronkowski
C (1) D.Andrews
G (3) S.Mason, J.Thuney, T.Karras
T (4) T.Brown, L.Waddle, C.Croston, M.Cannon
DE (5) T.Flowers, A.Clayborn, D.Wise, K.Davis, D.Rivers
DT (4) M.Brown, D.Shelton, L.Guy, A.Butler
ILB(3) D.Hightower, E.Roberts, J.Bentley
OLB(3) B.King, M.Flowers, K.VanNoy
CB (6) S.Gilmore, J.McCourty, D.Dawson, J.Jones, J.Jackson, E.Rowe
SS (2) N.Ebner, P.Chung
FS (2) D.McCourty, D.Harmon

I agree that we are likely to see some trades or some pick ups.

And like another poster here alluded to...there's a chance for Cyrus Jones to stick if he makes some good PR's on Fri night. I'd rather have a CB/PR than a WR/PR...but the fact remains that we need a PR....I don't want Chung out there unless he is fair catching....he's too valuable...the only one who can really cover TE's....

I am also curious as to where Jordan Matthews, Malcolm Mitchell, and Kenny Britt will be with their respective injuries by say...week 6 or 7? We could bring one of those guys back.

We could. However my hope is that, at that point, none would be worth bringing in to replace Edelman, Hogan, Dorsett, Patterson and Decker.

We need 3 receivers. We would have 5.

I agree with your first statement and much of your second, with the difference being that I’d want one of the two “PS caliber WRs” if they decide that Eric Decker isn’t going to make the team. If that’s the case, you kind of need to keep one.

Mr Decker should get a really long Three Quarters look Tonight: it seems like he's been here a while. If Decker puts up a Bagel you gotta think he's out of here even considering our current WR situation. One Positive last Game was that Brady did some things with Coradarrelle Patterson if he can somehow figure out how to extend his route pass the LOS we might have something. I know Patterson is not asked to run complicated Routes but you can see he moves a lot better than the rest Edelman and Hogan excluded. If the Patriots don't make a Trade we know they will be all over the waiver come cut downs for a WR.

Does this not work on mobile, or do I need to just go to sleep and give it a better try tomorrow?
Desktop only right now - I have to modify it for mobile/tablets but haven't had a chance to do that yet. :(

It would be nice if decker and dorsett the double Ds show something against the lions on friday.

My guess is Decker and Dorsett will get zero catches against the Lions Friday nite... just a hunch :\:D

Butler and valentine really play different positions.
Valentine is really the only backup to Shelton who wouldn’t be playing out of position.

You picked Ferentz just to get a rise out of the captain, dint ya?

Hopefully, the final roster will look something like yours, I especially like no Elandon Roberts and no Jordan Richards on your final projection!!!
