They are a power house offense: no question.
Wait till you look at the D!

They gave up 131 pts in 5 games last year and so far have given up 102 points this year. The last Pats SB winning team gave up 108pts in the 1st 5 games!

(Not gonna talk about how in 2019 the Pats gave up 34 pts in 5 games.)

I think you missed what he was saying.
If Polk's heel never landed on the ground
at all, after the toe tap, it would have been a catch. Same thing I posted much earlier.
The rule is that on an end zone catch, you must get two feet inbounds but a toe tap is ok as long as the rest of that foot ?never
touches the ground out of bounds.
So on this particular play, if Polk had managed to ?not allow his heel to hit the ground out of bounds after the toe tap that would have been a td.
I dont know if was even physically possible for him to do that, given his momentum etc.
It is a stupid rule, like the tuck rule was.
I understand but I don’t get how needed to get 2 feet in bounds is a stupid rule.
The whole step has to be in, if the step is only the toe, then only the toe counts.
If the step includes the whole foot then the whole foot counts

I can’t imagine how else it could be done.

Brisket on the radio today said he expects to start Sunday. So nobody told him that Maye is starting, ergo my guess is he isn't. You would make the decision today, to give Maye the whole week to get ready for his first NFL start. Even if it wasn't you probably would tell he backup he is playing, since there is no need to wait. They saw the game live.
I wonder if Maye's "30%" is gonna get bumped up this week.

To further clarify, dragging the toes is also ok- as long as his heel doesn't land right away out of bounds.
Polk actually did more than toe-tap- he also got the entire ball of his foot down- what negated the catch was his heel then hitting the ground out of bounds. If he had been able to dangle his leg in the air so heel never hit ground for a few seconds, it's a td.
Again whatever part of the foot contacts the ground in that step counts.
A “toe tap” counts because it is the only part of the foot to touch, or in other words he makes the catch and gets both feet in. If the second foot lands partly out of bounds it makes him out of bounds before completing the catch.
Again, how else would you have it?

The JAX game makes more sense to me. Let the OL play together for a second week, let Maye start away from home against a very weak team, and then have his grand home debut against the jets. As a side issue, Bourne will get another week the get the rust off.

There is truly an outstanding chance of having a chance in both the JAX and NYJ games, as well as in the TEN game.

We are likely to get soundly beaten this week. Maye doesn't need to be part of the debacle.

If we go through this season and don’t get the best OT in the draft, I might be done with this team.
I'd prefer they deal with OT by acquiring one between now and the draft. There will be one available through trade or FA. Rumor has it Cam Robinson could be available from the Jags?
Then they can focus on getting the best players available.

Why you gotta be so rude?

I agree that we should not be forced to expect that we will be able to get a top starting LT with our first pick.

We should use all opportunities to acquire an OT or two before the draft. Yes, now would be a good time. Early in next season's free agency would be another. Right before the draft would be year another opportunity.

The key is to do better than this year counting on a mediocre free agent to be a key part of our tackle group.

We need 3 tackles and an emergency fourth for the 2025 team. And we need camp competition for those positions. It is certainly possible that one of this year's players will be among the 5-6 OT's in camp.

From the perspective of now, our current OT's are improving and could win one or even two of the four spots next year.

You're totally misunderstanding this.
Let's review the play:
Polk gets one entire foot down in bounds, gets the ball of his other foot and toes in bounds on other foot, controls the ball all the way to the ground BUT endzone tds have a quirky rule that does not exist for any other catches anywhere on the field-
after doing all the above, the ?heel of the foot in question landed out of bounds after a ll of the above occurred. That is a legal catch anywhere else on the field but the endzone. It's a stupid rule

In other words, after establishing the catch he left his feet as he went to the ground out of bounds and his heel hit the ground. That's what happened. I have read and reread all the end zone rules- if his heel had landed a few seconds later it would've been ruled a td. It was because it landed too quickly. Stupid rule

I am not opposed to this, but it’s really rare to get a young, solid LT for trade (not to mention the problems we’ve had convincing free agents and trade bait to come here) who doesn’t have serious issues. Otherwise, why wouldn’t Jacksonville want to keep him?

That rule exists for every play everywhere on the field.
The heel didn’t land out of bounds after, it happened DURING
When you make a catch both feet must be in bounds. That includes every part of the foot that touches the ground. End zone, sideline, anywhere.

Wrong. His heel hit the ground as part of getting the second foot down and it was out of bounds.
He certainly did NOT leave his feet after the touched or that would have represented the third step
If the somehow pushed off the toe and created another step, where the only part of the second foot down was the toe it’s a catch. The second foot includes every part of the foot that touches. How could it be any other way?

It’s a pretty easy fix imo, if they want to follow through and use the cap and draft capital. Sign LT Alaric Jackson from the Rams for starters. Young, 26 years old. Draft a legit LT who can transition to the right for the short term like Kelvin Banks. Right there alone answers a starting LT, RT as well as moving Wallace to the swing, furthermore moves Onwenu back to rg with Sow filling in at the left side. If you want to take it a step further, draft a center like Bryce Foster out of Kansas, a true mauler, or go with the technician Jonah Monheim out of USC. Just examples of two I prefer.

This isn’t rocket science. They have a pretty legit prospect at QB. Now it’s time to start assembling the pieces and coaching it up. They’ve just got to commit to the plan. If they hit homeruns this team could be ready in 3 years.

They aren't sure if Banks is a Tackle or a Guard. That a bit concerning.

This is the nadir. Is that the right word, The worst loss in the post-Brady years. Ever throwing to the wide open middle of the field drastically simplifies what the opposing defenses need to focus on.

The Texans will be rubbing their hands in glee watching this tape.
Is it? Really? Were you under a rock last year? The year that brought you multiple chart topping hits such as 34-0, 38-3, 10-6, 10-7, 6-0 and the timeless 17-3 to the Rodgerless Jets. Let's not forget about that special playoff game where Bills did not punt once.

Washington also has a top end WR, the Pats don't. The '01 Pats were driven by their defense with adequate play from a smart QB. That was D all the way and without Barmore and trading Judon that wasn't happening this year.

Also the line in Washington isn't all depleted and run down like the Pats' line is. Teams like that are aberrations.
Adequate play? LOL. Adequate QB play does not win you a SB. Tired of this garbage. He was a good game manager who stepped up everytime he needed to. That is not just adequate.

We’re going to be setting multiple futility records this season. The past couple of years will look like the good old days in comparison.

Knowing we might be picking Top 3 in every Round might be tempting.
