Gronkowski was physically superior to most lb’ers and safeties covering him. It’s normal for a player like his stature to engage with the defense. He was built for raw strength, and endurance not speed and elusiveness. The only way to succeed in stopping him was to rough him up or alter with his catching abilities, I.e, hold him, tussle with his feet or his face mask while you’re beside him.

It’s sad his career ended due to so many injuries.
We're already near that point with Maye throwing deep; basically the best defense is to mug the receiver and hope you don't get DPI.

Edelman played. But I agree Gronk was mugged all game long just like he was in the 2018 AFCCG. Eric Berry was begging the refs to throw a flag, but they wouldn't do it. Jamie Collins had two major mistakes early in the game which led to 14 points. With that said, had Bill elected to kick field goals, they win the game assuming Ghost makes them.
Absolutely correct. Collins was probably the only LB that we have had in the BB era that could probably "attempt " to cover a TE..& he free lanced that play and allowed a lesser player to beat him for TD. That game just had a weird feel to it.

Definitely rather face the Chargers.

Not sold on threat of Texans. I've seen a bunch of their games and today was pretty much the whole year. Defense is killer (and scares me), but the offense is bad. Line is terrible and Stroud has regressed. Running game is meh. They squeak out most games because of the D (and a good kicker).
This. I absolutely feel Stroud isn't the QB we saw as a rookie. The Texans offense for all the playmakers they have still underwhelming. They rely heavily on thier defense. The Texas DEFENSE is the best part of thier team. However no team that will make the playoffs this season is an easy out.. But the chargers would be a more favorable match up for us.

Do we want to face the Texans first the playoffs?? I know I don't they're the Hottest Team in football.

That defense is a problem. They did us a favor by beating overrated LAC.. currently we are slotted to face LAC in the wildcard.. I don't think we are getting the 1 seed twin..

Henry’s had the quietest 1,469 yards & 16 TDs in NFL history. Amazing.

I wouldn't say the Texans defense was lights out by any means. Los Angeles moved the ball on them pretty well at times, but their kicker left 4 points on the field on chippies, and their red zone turnovers weren't exactly 'forced'.

Stroud hit two long passes on completely blown coverages in the first 6 minutes, they scored 6 points the rest of the way.

Not saying I agree or disagree, but didn’t most of the Charger yards come when Houston was playing prevent/lax coverage; either at the end of the first half or late in the 4th when LAC were “charging” down the field? I can’t remember…LAC only had 275 yards; granted they were playing with a high school OL.

They’re very good but not elite, and they’re paired with a fairly pedestrian offense. Not the scariest team ever by any means.

That and they were *checks* in the red zone 5 times, came away with 9 points. Deep red zone too.
Just brutal.

That high school o-line blocked them up pretty well for most of the game. Herbert got really panicky as that game went on.

JMO,,

LAC offense was dismal. The Texans front like they gave everyone this season gave them problems all day.. Hunter and Anderson are Probably the best edge duo in the league.. They are just relentless.

LAC were also aided by some penalties to sustain drives. Herbert was running for his life essentially all game. Texans offense with a regressed Stroud throwing INTs hurt them.

Texans defense won me over with the 8 sacks on Allen. Personally I feel we got a gift now matched up with LAC..

If it remains I'm sure Vrabel's going to pull up the game film from last season 31-0 beat down for increased motivation. Drake should remember it well.
