The NFL always has teams playing alongside each other (same time slot) if the outcome of the games affect each other.
I figured they would not miss a chance to screw with the Pats.

But if you’re right that means we’ll see the Pats game scheduled at 4 because they won’t make Denver start their game at 11am MT. Assuming that the Chargers beat Houston this week so #1 seed is in play that is.

OK, so you think that the chargers will beat DEN.
If the Chargers beat Houston this week I’d expect them to beat Denver next week. Denver isn’t that good.

semantics

You really don't think that team has a better chance at home against everyone but perhaps BUF? Perhaps it also doesn't matter much against PIT.
Yeah, I think you are misreading me. I struckthrough the outdoor teams saying we don’t get a big HFA.
-But we do have good HFA vs the dome-southerners & west-coast fair weather types.

But against DEN, LAC and JAX? You really think that these teams will play as well in New England weather? My guess is that betting line would be 6 points different with regard to DEN.
Not sure how you came to this from what I wrote, so hard to respond????
- I wrote PIT you replaced w JAX

Essentially I think we beat these 3 wherever we play (if healthy) cause our strengths match well vs their weaknesses.

My third category was the dogfight. Those where their strengths match well to our weaknesses or unknowns.
- Those are a dogfight no matter where it takes place.
- But luckily these are teams that have worse records so at least we’ll get that suspect HFA against them.
Let's ask another question. Do you think that the betting line would be home and away? And yes, I do think that bettors are better judges of potential results than the average fan.
Not a bettor. Don’t track or care.

I thought that only really applied/worked for Div games. Not necessarily for conference standing /bye issues.

Thank you for the clarifications.

You could be right. I am not an expert on this and it is too late for a quick search.

I did a quick AI search. "As much as possible".

Yes, as much as possible, the NFL uses flexible scheduling in Week 18 to ensure that teams competing for the same playoff spot or seeding play at the same time.

If both teams start at 1PM or both start at 4PM there is no advantage gained by either team. From AI:

I think at „as much as possible“ makes it effectively-practically impossible.maybe Why I don’t remember it happening.

One or other of the teams vying for conf seed is likely also playing for a Div title. So that would mean moving/ synchronizing multiple games.

Multiple teams would all play at 1PM. Seems easy to me. What do you mean?

West Coast or Rocky Mountain teams won’t start at 1pm ET, that would be 10am PT or 11am MT.

Good point. AFCE title would require Pats and Bills to play at same time if it’s not settled this week. Seems that would override the #1 seed concerns, especially since the Broncos and Chargers may well be playing for the AFCW title. So there’s not really much reason to make the Pats and Broncos play at the same time.
