OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Video: Tom Brady makes his initial comments on Antonio Brown’s release.

Makes me suspect that the moment he got his incentives he’d have quit on the team with his fake injury and not played in the playoffs.

You said to do it to save his physical health not to placate his crazy brain.

Yeah...but larger point being: you don't risk a $200M payroll over some chump change like this. The situation was crappy no matter what. You have a guy who probably shouldn't be playing, and who definitely should't be playing considering this is exactly the "earned rest" luxury they have for guys they need as fresh as possible for the playoffs. And then add in the incentives and a psychopath player, and voila. No, I definitely didn't predict it would go down like this and wouldn't have dreamed that up...but it was a stupid decision to play him to begin with, and a stupid decision to not pay him for incentives he's very close to reaching regardless. He played at a pro bowl level when he was healthy. He was suspended, but that's a separate issue because he wasn't paid for it anyway. So considering he played at a pro bowl level and was giving it his all when out there, just pay him the goddamn money instead of throwing him out there to achieve worthless regular season milestones at the great risk of postseason availability.

I'm not sure I've ever felt you were more wrong than on this subject. I mean, you're getting pretty much every bit of it wrong.

If he gets paid up front after when he should have been cut how do they know he won’t tank it or demand more?

I think the real issue is why is asking for that? It's incentives he'll reach so why ask for it? Good people managers will use it as an opportunity to talk to him and ask him what's up and maybe repair the relationship if it was possible.

...he’s absolutely nuts and had burned bridges with 3 teams already. There’s not much to work with.

Looks like AB has Covid protocol violations to deal with as well now too.

They should have just agreed. He's your best weapon on offense (not named Brady) and a huge piece in helping for the upcoming Super Bowl run. It relieves a ton of pressure and allows your best WR to ease up for the last 2 weeks before the important games begin. Saying no means having him go out there injured, giving it 100% with risk of eaggravating the injury before the playoffs...all while he's out there thinking about the amount of money on the line, wondering if he'll reach those incentives in spite of Leftwich's awful play calling.

He has more issues to deal with now. Covid protocols were broken again by AB if the models story is legit

At this point I'm glad he has been cut so the team can move on and play this final week and then hopefully get their guys back healthy for the postseason.

************...this guy is a turd. After everything with his vax card, he violates protocols again, and then the girl he hooked up with TELLS EVERYONE. L.M.F.A.O.

The model tested positive too

Just saw said model and damn I don’t blame AB on that one at all
