OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

So essentially, the Bucs GM set this up by not just giving the incentives.

Hopefully 2mil isn't the reason why Brady can't repeat.

Yes AB is ultimately to blame, he is a delusional diva but they knew exactly how he is as a person.

If they were planning on hardballing AB they never should have resigned him. That money saved could have gone to OBJ when he was released

That's not on the Bucs. He was gunning for the guarantees after the vax card thing. There was no way he was going to get that.

Bruce Arians explains in detail what happened with Antonio Brown on Sunday.

You can't guarantee $$ to AB. Look what happens
He freaked out because he needed his incentives to earn that cash, and once he thought Brady wasn't giving him enough targets he freaked out.

AB is crazy but he has an incredible work ethic. He wouldn't have tried any less with that money guaranteed, he just wouldn't have been stressed about getting enough targets

If this is you’re take on this then you’re incredibly obtuse.

It's not but is at the same time.

AB is crazy and a diva. He needs special treatment in order to not go off the walls.

So from a management perspective, if you sign a guy like that you know full well how you need to handle them. If they weren't willing to handle him then they never should have signed him.

He didn't miss the incentives just because of the vax thing but because of the ankle injury.

If AB never hurt his ankle he would have earned those incentives even with the suspension

Brown made the Bucs look like complete embarrassments over his fake vax card and THEN had the nerve to demand all his incentives guaranteed? After they did him a favor by risking bringing him back at all? This is not how business is done anywhere. Get out of here.

You don't know what the word obtuse means.

I'm saying, if that's the root cause.

No one knows what ultimately led to ABs breakdown, I'm just making a speculation based on the known facts.

No.

It's not, but it's not.

AB's craziness isn't relevant here. It would have been insane for the Bucs to have guaranteed that money at that point.

He did embarrass the team fully agree. They could have cut him then but they didn't because they needed his talents on the field.

AB was already missing a bunch of games due to his injury and he still wasn't ready to play when his suspension started.

AB absolutely deserved to get cut no question.

But it's fair to question had the Bucs just given him the 2mil lost due to injuries, would Brown have freaked out over not getting enough targets

I will say it again but thank goodness this happened this week with one game left and not in the postseason.

Man you’d be an awful hostage negotiator.

Your right, ABs craziness had nothing to do with him stripping his jersey off and running on to the field lol

That's not what I said. Don't go doing that stuff here.

  1. AB signed an incentive deal.
  2. AB got suspended because of an action he took.
  3. AB could still have reached his incentives if he played the final two games.
  4. The Bucs would have been crazy to guarantee him the money at that point.

AB according to sources freaked out because he wasn't getting enough targets.

It's pretty obvious his reasons for wanting the targets were tied to getting his money.

AB is crazy, it's probably likely he got paranoid thinking they were intentionally lowering his targets so he couldn't get paid.

His post about AG and TB trying to steal 100k from him shows his delusional thinking.

He might have thought Brady wasn't giving him enough targets because of that.

It also explains why unfriended Brady after the game and made that pic of home alone with TB and BA as the bad guys

So you think giving him the 2 million up front based on what you just wrote was a good idea?

There are photos I’ve just seen of AB causing a scene talking with Brady some time before the meltdown.

I saw one where he's talking to BA and maybe Gronk and on the sideline and being held back. I've never seen Gronk look crazy angry before but he was death staring him down.

None of that makes it the right move for the Bucs to have guaranteed the incentives.

If (and I mean "if", as we still don't know the actual specifics of what was happening) AB was talking Brady down, he's lucky Gronk didn't rip him in half right there.
