NFL MUST investigate dubious officiating at Colt home games

....
Honestly after every big play San Diego made yesterday, I couldn’t enjoy until 5 seconds later, expecting a flag each time.

And USUALLY they let the plays stand, right?

Because managing game outcomes is much more art than science.
You have to have an instinct for when a call (or obvious non-call)
will matter most.
Spike the punch TOO liberally ... and all the girls will know!

The league really hasn't been into managing outcomes until recent years.
They don't yet have the formula down ... dare i say "Pat"?

They try.
But often enough, they fail.

I was surprised that a hard liner like Austin would add his name to the continuing number of shamelessly officiated games that overwhelmingly favor the Colts over the years. This is not bad referereeing. On the contrary, it is corrupt referereeing sponsored and coached by the NFL Commisioner's office.

The two biggest games (N.E. & S.D) at Indy this year were referereed by a rookie referee and an aging fossil on his way out. It's always easier to coax a young wide-eyed rookie and one looking for a comfortable retirement to do the dirty work.

That's pretty bad, coming in here and getting sympathy from Pats' fans, then taking that shot. How many games did the Pats win this year because of cheating?

LOL, I had to take that shot! Oh, everyone recognizes that the Patriots cheated in the first Jets game. They could have beat the Jets without cheating but they still cheated.

NFL network, on their show 'Total Access' has Pereira, the VP of officiating in the NFL, talk over controversial calls from the previous week. If he doesn't go over these calls it would be very surprising. They usually pick really good plays for him to explain. It will be quite interesting to see what he comes up with for the Indy game.

Here's the show's web site:

NFL Vice President of Officiating Mike Pereira contributes each Wednesday during the season his "Official Review" segment, providing viewers insight into the close calls from the preceding weekend action.

Wow, I can't believe after 4 months people are still this clueless about what happened. And what it was.

Same here. After that bogus holding call, I was expecting a flag on every touchdown we made. I don't know how we won that game considering that all the odds were against us. We won it with our backups too which says a lot. I guess it's karma. If you cheat, you'll lose(unless you're the Patriots).

Someone ban this *********.

I think if someone with the required IT smarts were to set up a site and have NFL fans sign up in an effort to have the situation looked at maybe something might be done.

This is a fantastic idea.

And at least for now, I hope this topic has over 500 replies just to keep it fresh in everyone's mind.

Unfortunately, this is a null issue because the Chargers won. Had they lost, I could see a bigger issue arising. However, I have seen Peter King, Mark Schlereth, and Don Banks discussed the lopsided calls.

Boomer Esiason went nuts on the "holding" call during the halftime show. The poor calls are getting the right amount of attention in my opinion. Just wish there was more outcry during the last two Pats-Colts games.

I think if someone with the required IT smarts were to set up a site and have NFL fans sign up in an effort to have the situation looked at maybe something might be done. Where there is smoke there is fire. If this continues I will not watch the NFL, and that would be a shame. Something stinks.

You don't need any "IT smarts". You can start an online petition free and easy, But, like all online petition's it will fall on deaf ears. The NFL will never admit there is anything wrong because that would bring so many things into question (i.e Super Bowl XL, Super Bowl XLI).

It would take just one player to spark something big. Wish one of the San Diego players would have said something...

You can start an online petition free and easy

No one ever pays attention to those. A smooth functioning website with a catchy name (Think - Ruin Romo) may actually catch some small media attention.

The fact that in your flea sized brain you believe the Patriots beat the Jets because they cheated shows you are a clueless moron, but I'd expect as much from a Chargers fan.

Tell us all genius how they cheated to win the Jets game; we're on pins and needles awaiting your retort............

LOL, I had to take that shot! Oh, everyone recognizes that the Patriots cheated in the first Jets game. They could have beat the Jets without cheating but they still cheated.

I love how Chargers fans are building in the excuses already with the cheating stuff. They know they're going to lose, and when they do, they can console themselves by saying the Patriots cheat. This is the mentality of loser fans of a team that has never accomplished anything.

Watched NFL Primetime last night, and - shocking - not even as much as a side comment was made about the holding call.

I can’t wait for Tony to leave and the downward spiral of the Colts to begin.

There is a reason for that, all of the calls were legit with the exception of the PI call against Reggie Wayne that I even jumped out of my seat and said WTF was that flag for, I was glad we got penalized 15 yards on the next play and we ended up punting so nothing came of that, but seriously somebody said 8 blantant plays, I only seen one, but I guess Im a Colts fan so my view might be biased. Not wanting to start a flame ware here either.

The holding call was bad, and it cost the Chargers 7 points. But as bad as it was, at least it was in the realm of a judgment call that could have gone either way.

However, the bogus PI call in the 4th qtr (for about 40 yards) was so absurd that nobody could believe what they just saw. It was so far from being just bad judgment that you had to think things WERE rigged.

Did you notice that on the very next play, an Indy OT was flagged for 15 yards for a blow to the head on a call you very rarely see? I am sure that one of the other refs saw how bad the PI call was and fixed it with a makeup call. It was like that funny commercial they've been airing lately where the ref admits blowing a call and promises to make up for it by making a bad call on the other team "for no good reason, to even things up". That's the only explanation for that sequence yesterday. The guy who made the PI call should be let go.

Explain to me how the holding call before the half was correct.

I wish I hadn't deleted it off my tivo, I was so mad after the loss that I deleted it. To be honest the only thing I remember about the holding before the half was the announcers showing a replay of a Charger player taking down Addai and they said "what are the Chargers complaining about" Thats all I remember, so I just took it at face value that it was a good call based on what they said at the time. Now I know most announcers don't know there ass from a hole in the ground most of the time.

It sounded more like when you put a microphone next to some electronics. A weird echo sound. Do you think the Colts are pumping in crowd noise?
Yes crom we do,and have for a long time there we many threads on this topic back in Nov. It seems whenever the colts play a big game its extra ordinarily loud. Sometimes the crown noise is deafening but if you look at the crowd its self their sitting on their hands for the most part. So where does all the noise come from if you look at the crowd and their sitting and not yelling?

Cromdome,no one in the League, not even the commish himself said the pats cheated. What would 8 minutes, and 6 plays get you? I'll tell you ...nada,zilch,zippo,nothing.
