Social Media Sights and Sounds From Day Two Of Patriots Training Camp
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports
Day two of Patriots training camp was similar to the first as head coach Bill Belichick continued to have his team work on red zone plays and situations.
The defense put together a bounce-back showing, most notably second-year safety Joshuah Bledsoe, who broke up two passes, adding to his three so far in camp. Towards the end of the session, the defense forced ten straight failed attempts by the offense.
Meanwhile, on offense, DeVante Parker continues to be an early fan favorite during camp as he once again caught an impressive touchdown reception from Mac Jones during 11-on-11s on defender Jalen Mills.
Off the field, a notable transaction coming into the day was news of DT Davon Godchaux signing a two-year, $20.8 million extension ($17.85 million guaranteed).
“He’s one of the best defensive linemen in the league,” said Bill Belichick prior to practice. “Glad we were able to work that out with Davon and [his agent] Drew Rosenhaus. Obviously, both sides are happy, contract’s signed, you know. Go forward.”
Godchaux made 16 starts for the Patriots in 2021, recording 65 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and playing 59 percent of the defensive snaps.

Not to be outdone, Hunter Henry gets in on the fun. He jumps over Kyle Dugger for a touchdown catch from Mac Jones. Tight ends look good today.

Loudest cheer of practice so far: Mac Jones to DeVante Parker, back-shoulder throw, front left pylon in red-zone drill.
TD.

Matt Patricia was the primary play-caller again today, but it looked like there were times where Joe Judge and Bill Belichick each made some calls as well.

Mac Jones started the day 16-of-17 in team drills, but finished 1-for-7 in red zone 11-on-11 with music blasting. Went 17-of-24 overall.
Defense dominated final period, but gave up a completion on the last play, so they had to do the push-ups anyway.

Bledsoe’s position group includes veteran leaders Devin McCourty and Adrian Phillips (photo on left) and youngster Kyle Dugger (right). Add Jabrill Peppers (on PUP) and core special teamer Cody Davis to that mix and it’s a very deep group. Nonetheless, a strong start for him. pic.twitter.com/LJL5IdWvmY
