A labrum, foot, hamstring, and knee scope for "cleanup". But medically cleared.

Why do such a thing, just sends bad mojo over the whole team. You picked the guy after clearing him. Do the right thing if this is indeed the case."One factor behind #Patriots rookie DE Gabe Jacas’ absence is that he is not being given a standard “participation agreement” by the team, per
@MikeReiss
.“Most draft picks receive such an agreement, which states that if they were to sustain an injury prior to signing their first NFL contract, the team would still be obligated to sign him to a contract based on the slot he was drafted.”
That sounds very shady from the team.
Typical Kraft directive of nitpicking over pennies."One factor behind #Patriots rookie DE Gabe Jacas’ absence is that he is not being given a standard “participation agreement” by the team, per

Issue might be that there wasn't full disclosure. So perhaps Pats are saying - we'll give you a guarantee, but not if the injury is pre-existing (and perhaps not fully disclosed). And the "participation agreement" would have to spell out exactly what the contract is that he'd get were he to be injured prior to signing, so that can't be signed either.“Most draft picks receive such an agreement, which states that if they were to sustain an injury prior to signing their first NFL contract, the team would still be obligated to sign him to a contract based on the slot he was drafted.”

My guess is the Pats are waiting for a medical before specifying the terms of any guarantee.
I agree. On top of what you said, I’m assuming the procedure was scheduled after he’d had his visas and evaluations but before the draft. So one question is, does he need to broadcast to the entire NFL, in other words the entire world, that he had a routine knee ‘scope? He can’t know what teams might be planning to draft him, teams play that close to the vest, so selective notification won’t work. Is he really expected to broadcast his negative health details in advance of the draft?Basically this.
He’s not yet signed because of the medical, and hasn’t received his participation agreement because the injury existed prior to even entertaining such an agreement. You can’t receive a participation agreement about “if you get injured while practicing” if you’re already injured and incapable of participating.
If this was a known injury and the team knew he wasn’t going to contribute for a while, and knew all of that when they drafted him, I don’t think this would be much of an issue. Whether there was a failure to disclose or something, hard to say, but it seems sensible to just wait for several reasons - his injury issues won’t keep him out much longer and he plays a position that can ramp up and be utilized relatively quickly. It’s easier to be a rookie DE than a rookie WR or TE, etc.
He would’ve been a rotational player anyway so I’m not fretting over it too much yet. If he’s still missing come August then it’s a concern.
Haha, right? I was reading the article yesterday and reiss starts going into his medicals...OK, I thought it was his knee that had an issue.

Why do you assume it's Kraft nitpicking? Do you see any of the "behind the scenes" videos of this team for, I dunno, the last 25 years? There's nothing in any of of those that lead one to believe that he has anything other than a 30,000 foot view of the day to day ops of the team.Typical Kraft directive of nitpicking over pennies.
It's all so tiresome. The franchise is valued at 9 billion dollars.
