McClellin could return to practice this week.

Concerned about Gilmore. We've seen long term concussion absences before.
What's concerning is that he continued to have headaches long after the Tampa Bay game had been played, and that they were bad enough to force a surprise rule out the night before the game after no other mention all week.

I'd be shocked if he played in Sunday's game, and with Sanu coming back today, that's bad news. He and Jones are obviously both physical receivers, and that's not bringing up a guy like Gabriel who is much better than the JAGs seen lately. I don't see how we have the personnel to match up like that.

But is Allen really helping as a blocker?

I dont know. That depends on the gameplan.

But if something were to happen to Gronk what would be more scarce ? Pass catching options or capable blockers that can affect the opponents formation ? Similarly, lets see how all of this looks when we get into Dec/Jan when the emphasis on running the ball will be stronger.

Did we actually get any confirmation that he sustained a concussion against TB ? What if he sustained this in practice, thought he could push through it but realized late that it wouldnt work out ? Not trying to grasp for straws but do we know anything so far except that he sustained a concussion ?

Something did happen to Gronk, and the result was we pretty much played as if there was no tight end position. I don't see how what we've seen from Allen shows he will be an asset when running becomes more important. He hasn't even been a good blocker.

That is the moment I stopped caring about your opinion.

No. He’s been terrible at that, too.

Can you cite some plays of him not being a good blocker? He's been pretty solid in the run game for blocking. I saw maybe one or two blocks where it didn't go right. One had to have been a mental error, the other maybe he should have attacked the linebacker who pulled back? I don't know. Maybe he's not supposed to do that. But that's all I've seen. Otherwise his blocking has been solid from what I saw.

Would have had a couple catches already if that scrub QB of ours could place the ball accurately. Again, if you think he should be anything else than a 25-30 catches guy then it is your own fault you are disappointed.

25-30 catches???

At this point Allen would be lucky if he has 3-5 catches all season

Brady clearly thinks Allen is a scrub and won’t throw to him

And BB is phasing Allen out of the offense all together as Allen only played 5 snaps last week.

Thanks for at least backing your opinion up rather than being a snide little **** with a one liner about "this is why your opinion doesn't matter."

Depends on whether or not you wish to believe ESPN, but Josina Anderson reported that it occurred during the Tampa Bay game. It supposedly happeneded on a helmet collision with Mike Evans.

Patriots' Gilmore ruled out with concussion

EDIT: @PP2 showed me a different angle, changed my analysis on this a bit.

Can you actually think of any plays in particular? This first down play might be the one @Wheelman is referring to:

Although it looks like a failed block by Allen, it is more nuanced IMO. The Pats are running a draw play, and it looks like Allen begins a backpedal as if he is pass blocking. The goal is to get the DE to pass rush himself out of the play. If Allen engages in a block past the line of scrimmage, the defense can read that as a run key. Unfortunately, the DL stayed home on this play and were ready for the draw.

EDIT:

On this angle it is obvious the rest of the OL is not running a draw play. The pulling OT gives it away. I still think Allen was blocking as if it were a draw, but that might be a mental mistake by him.

That is the play! Good find! And good point on the run key!

Maybe next time you actually read what people write. Show me where I said your opinion doesnt matter.

I said I just dont care about your opinion anymore because I have been through the same stupid discussion dozens of times and just dont feel like having to rehash the same thing again and again.

I trust people like Chatham more on how to evaluate the blocking of players than people in the media because he actually knows what he is talking about since he literally lived through all of that. And if he says that Allens blocking was good in his reviews of the Panthers and Texans game then this is enough for me.

But by all means.. join the hot take brigade that cant even point out individual plays where they think the blocking sucked but default back to a pointless discussion about his contract as if that matters. We traded for a player and now it is what it is.

Honestly I see sanu as a jag.
Gabriel is a speed threat but hardly a major consistently productive wr.

Sanu's career high is 59 receptions and his career avg us under 12 ypc.
Never understood why people think this guy is anything special.
Gabriel had 99 catches in his 3 year career before this year and 14 so far in 2017.

The strength of this offense is jones, and the RBs.

For 5 snaps a game to get paid 6 Million a year?
Once the season starts what he is paid is irrelevant.
He is playing more than 5 snaps per game also.

He was killing Rowe with these in or out cuts, stop on a dime, do a 180 the other way. That's how he caught his balls in Super Bowl LI. He was actually open for I think 2 more times in that game doing that but the pressure got to Matt Ryan.

He caught 2 passes for 25 yards. How does that impress you?
He is a jag.
If he has to make 6 cuts to get open that should tell you something.
