Matt Patricia no longer employed by the Pats.

That makes no sense. Why risk a crucial year in your young QB's development on a placeholder OC? He really thought the Matt/Judge combo would be successful and was wrong.

Because there isn’t anyone you want to hire long term available, and you don’t want to hire someone knowing you will fire them after a year when your guy becomes available. I think he expected that Judge would end up as OC for the season, but saw his interactions with the offense in the off-season and decided against it, leaving Patricia as the sacrificial lamb. I don’t think anyone likes how it turned out, but it’s pretty clear he was waiting on O’Brien, as I don’t think he even interviewed anyone else for the position. And that’s coming from someone who didn’t want O’ Brien.

You're assuming that BB knew that the OC combo would fail anyways and he'd move on. He didn't. He thought it would work out in the long-term.

It's not clear he was waiting for BoB. It happened that his contract with Alabama expired when he was looking for an OC he was familiar with. If BB wanted BoB to be Josh's replacement all along, he could have hired him away from his job. It happens all the time.

I suppose you can believe what you want to believe but the placeholder OC narrative makes no sense logically.

What I’m assuming is that he knew that he would be able to upgrade in 2023, and that he could get by with what he had until then, he was wrong, and it hurt the team, and Jones development.

Disagree. Belichick knows that coaches frequently move from one unit to another over their coaching careers, as he did over the years. I think he probably started out thinking that Judge would end up with the bulk of the offensive duties, but the time leading up to the season led him to the decision that Judge would be a poor choice, so it ended up going to Patricia, which clearly didn’t work. My biggest surprise is that Judge is still with them.
I respect your opinion, however respectfully have to disagree.. not to go over the whole scenario as we all saw and then later as the herald reported... was verified with what we all knew..

There was ample opportunities after Josh left to add compenetent replacements.. Yes staff members do leave however as Curran reported patriots staffers are often over worked and underpaid.. so it's not a suprise they leave for better opportunities for themselves.

BB illogically choose to go with who he was comfortable with... failed coaches who were successful here not elsewhere.

Who had no dealings with offensive football, or coaching up a young promising QB..

Judge and Patricia had no winning pedigree outside of NE.. Caley as reported refused the job as BB wouldn't name him coordinator or playcaller...

We do however agree on Judge still being with the organization that is mind blowing in itself.

They pretty much hurt themselves by accepting jobs that they had no business doing.. the greater damage done here is the progress was set back, the QB regressed and ownership had to step in to take control of the situation.

BB has to allow his genius to work the right way this time.. stating Mac can play in this league is not necessarily backing your QB.

The positive outlook is BOB is here and he has control of the entire offense and autonomy.. just my thoughts and humble opinions on things that's all..

The gamble was worth it to BB.. thier salaries being paid by someone else, the familiarity with them, it all made sense to no one but BB.. Kraft didn't believe in it... and stated BB had earned the right to do things his way, it's not always straight line to the fans or to him...

Giving someone an opportunity is not setting him up for failure. There is no way that BB would have made the move if he thought that it would go so badly. BB's failure was thinking that MP could be successful as an OC. At least MP has enough credibility on the defensive side of the ball that he should be able to find another job.
As someone mentioned on here BB in his own mind didn't believe it would be a failure.. he said if it didn't work out put.t on me... it was just a big mistake for the entire organization.. nothing was gained or accomplished last season..

I've heard some players say he's a great guy and others (esp in DET) hate his guts.

I can't say he's socially awkward but I feel certain in saying he's lost control of his career and the only way to do that is to go back to what he established himself as professionally and do well - and that's on defense.
Watch his interviews, and let me know what you think... publicly he comes of as socially awkward.. yes, not saying the guy doesn't have a personality but sometimes people can be different in front of a camera and another in private..

I don’t have any problem with the disagreement, it’s what the board revolves around. As far as O’Bren goes I’m not a fan, but I hope he does a great job and they turn into a legit playoff team this year. We will see?

Another Mac Jones victim takes the dirt nap.

This is an example of what I do have a problem with. Poster’s who have an agenda and just keep beating it to death, in the mistaken belief that people want to see them say the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and and over ……………….. There is a name for that——-*******.

Absolutely, I respect the thoughts and opinions of others as that's what makes the forum a great place to talk and stay informed with our team.. I Know that we al want to see us getting back to being a contender..

It's just without Brady here the lenses are pulled back a bit, and the focus is much more on BB and the organization..

BOB to me is a seasoned offensive mind that's been other places, NFL college so he has a balance of experiences that can only help Mac.. We need Mac to be the qb of now and the future.. I don't want to be the bills pre Allen!

Even better, it isn't Curran's piece or even an interview of Curran but some non byline fly by night site quoting Curran as heard via an EEI tweet. High end reporting of the wordpress variety lol
It’s crazy. I posted that story here the other day about Breer saying he thinks the Pats would consider trading Mac for good compensation, which was directly quoting long sections of what he actually said. I noticed that in the days after that, at least 10 or more random websites posted “stories” saying Mac WILL be traded with their source being the same lines uttered by Breer but taken severely out of context.

I personally feel it's illogical to trade Mac, it makes no business sense too.. he's under team control, his rookie contract..

BB to me... owes it to the organization to allow this season to get the offense right and get Mac back on track..

The question of the day is ... is judge next? Or did he take the director of jock strap cleaner?

Hope so. By all accounts he’s a ****, and I haven’t seen much from him as a coach here or in New York.

Yeah ... definitely... I bet he got on his knees in BBs office and said he'll work for free.

His defenses were bend but don't break philosophy... when he left we became an attacking style defense that we always had with crennel.. that got us our 6th titile...

I like the attack style better, bend but don't break works until the 4th quarter and you NEED a stop to win the game. The problem with attack is that it is more dependent on individual talent. Good teams can exploit the weak links.
