Kicking Matt to the curb is the first step to getting rid of the dysfunction. Still need to get rid of Judge and the sons (won't happen).

I stopped drinking for a while. Might need to pop a beer to celebrate tonight though...

BB's sons have grown into their jobs and performed well. Patricia and Judge are good coaches, just not in the roles they had last season.

If you read that article, it's Curran assuming that he's not with the team anymore. Nothing's concrete.

Even better, it isn't Curran's piece or even an interview of Curran but some non byline fly by night site quoting Curran as heard via an EEI tweet. High end reporting of the wordpress variety lol

He certainly was in over his head in his position last year. No shade coming from me though. He did a good enough job to help win this team a couple of superbowls. He was also seen wearing a clown nose Rodger shirt and the North Remembers shirt as well which tells me he agreed with Patriots fans that Rodger was a douchebag during the deflategate bs. Loved that open support from the guy.

Time for people to get over the hate and let the man walk away. He was a true Patriot and really cared about being part of the organization while he was here. Again, he was in over his head.

Not feeling sorry for him and his 10 million net worth either. He did well for himself with the Detroit Job. Thought he was well on his way when he beat the Patriots ass on National tv but that was short lived. There’s only 32 Head coaches and only a handful that have secure jobs. Unless your king of your craft your not sticking around very long with 6-10 firings a year. Your days are numbered.

He was put in a bad position last year, that is on bb. Thought he was a solid dc for us previously. No hard feelings on my end, unless he had played a major part in “the benching “ as some report, then good riddance.

If BB really likes him, he did him a major disservice by setting him and the offense up for failure. His reputation is trashed.
As for BB I have lost so much respect for him. 90% of his efforts should have been focused on the offense. He either delegated and ignored the offense or he had his hands in it, demonstrating that he is horrible at offensive scheming and playcalling.

No question last year handling of the offensive coaching situation was Bill's biggest f-up in the 22 years he had led the org.

He has a year to fix it.

Really?? Following BB for a while now it seems as though he always believed that any coach can coach any position or group. He was wrong here, but even though he was can never lose respect for him. Last year was a bad year for him and the Pats, but he has taken steps to insure that this team can get back to focusing on better days.

XFL...Jesus.

I think Fat Matt should join the WWE. He can be like Mankind v2
At this point owner's are probably thinking he had issues in Detroit, came Back to NE had no business whatsoever trying to call an NFL offense.. he's socially awkward.. this era of NFL Players I don't see where he fits...

Giving someone an opportunity is not setting him up for failure. There is no way that BB would have made the move if he thought that it would go so badly. BB's failure was thinking that MP could be successful as an OC. At least MP has enough credibility on the defensive side of the ball that he should be able to find another job.

I've heard some players say he's a great guy and others (esp in DET) hate his guts.

I can't say he's socially awkward but I feel certain in saying he's lost control of his career and the only way to do that is to go back to what he established himself as professionally and do well - and that's on defense.

I THINK that he could have remained if he had wanted to take on a FO, or Ernie Adams role. But it looks like he still wants to coach with an NFL team, since he took the DC interview with Denver. I know is very popular to frame him as the idiot who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag, but he wouldn't have lasted almost 20 years here with Bill if he couldn't coach. "Fall Guy" was a very apt gif, PF2

I pretty much agree with this, and with the benefit of hindsight I think last year’s OC debacle was the result of Belichick not seeing anyone he wanted as a full time OC available, so rather than hire/fire someone after one year he kept it within his staff and waited for O@Brien’s contract at Alabama to expire, knowing he wanted to get back to the NFL, and this would be his best route. And I do think Patricia could still end up in a front office/ Ernie Adam’s role, but wants to try and catch on as a coach right now.

Absolutely.. I don't know if Bill hyped them up to make them feel like they could do the job... as they say learning offense from defense is like speaking a foreign language.. it's probably going to be a position coach job or the college ranks, maybe even xfl..

Disagree. Belichick knows that coaches frequently move from one unit to another over their coaching careers, as he did over the years. I think he probably started out thinking that Judge would end up with the bulk of the offensive duties, but the time leading up to the season led him to the decision that Judge would be a poor choice, so it ended up going to Patricia, which clearly didn’t work. My biggest surprise is that Judge is still with them.

That makes no sense. Why risk a crucial year in your young QB's development on a placeholder OC? He really thought the Matt/Judge combo would be successful and was wrong.
