I'm just going to keep banging this drum because of the comedic value. I just love how the "anonymous" Jets scout ranked Becton as the second best tackle in the NFL for those ESPN rankings, defending how he was the right choice over Wirfs and severely overrating him based on his Hall of Fame projection. It's the Jets way to overrate their own players based on the imaginary idea they're going to suddenly improve for no apparent reason. They do it time after time after time.

Mike LaFleur: Mekhi Becton going through some things, not playing his best

Offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur told reporters after practice that he’s been unhappy with the play of the offensive line in general and that Becton’s play in particular has not been at the level the team wants to see as the 2020 first-round pick prepares for his second NFL season.

“Mekhi’s going through some things right now,” LaFleur said, via SNY. “He’s not playing at his best and he knows that. . . . He didn’t have a training camp last year. He didn’t have OTAs last May and June. I’ve got all the confidence in the world in Mekhi because, one, I know how talented he is and, two, he’s a good dude and he’s going to work through all this stuff.”


Sounds like he's getting destroyed against actual competition, after getting destroyed by his own teammate (who is now out for the season with a torn Achilles.)

In fairness, we really don’t know if Lawson was a big addition. He was burning Bacon all training camp and being praised for it. Then the Packers showed up and burned Bacon even more than Lawson was. So, who the hell knows in the end.

I remember the first time I saw this pic on draft night. I thought they had drafted the dude in gray, middle of the pic. I was like wow that is one of the jeteyest jete’in jete things I have ever seen. Based on reports I am seeing here maybe they would have been better off if they had.
