How many teams are really that good in the NFL right now?

NFC I think Seattle benefits most from no Rodgers. AFC as long as we don't have to travel to Denver, nothing scares me too much. Although a night game at KC is a little scary (flashbacks).

Odds to win Superbowl LII from 20 different betting sites. Pats are closer to 4/1 now after the Packers odds collapsed last night (Packers went from 6-1 to 20-1 ish), with next best guys sitting at closer to 8/1.

Just so you guys know what the market thinks while you guys are whining about how bad this team is. BTW our odds to win Superbowl LII are just about as tight right now as at any time of the year, including the start of the season. So the market doesn't think we're worse off in the campaign than the start of the year.

My theory is that reduced practice time in offseason, strictly enforced, is leading to sloppy play at start of season from all teams. Quality of play should improve as season progresses. This might be a new feature if practice time in offseason remains low.

It's been this way for a while now but years past it didn't look this bad.

I'd definitely say that it's looking like a "parity year".

Right now ...

AFC:
NE, KC and PIT seem the most likely to make the playoffs, and pretty much everybody but CLE could have a legit shot at the WC spots.

NFC:
PHL seems the most legit to me, but the rest of the conference seems wide open.
Seems easier to pick the teams that don't appear to have a shot at the post season:
DAL, NYG, CHI, TBY, SFO

Every team has flaws and the when youre allowed to practice negotiated by the NFLPA in the last CBA is taking its toll on quality of the game and in injuries.

This to to the Nth degree. The product on the field, diluted by lack of practice, lack of padded practice/tackling/other physical fundamentals and an increase in the size and speed of the players has increased the recklessness and sloppiness of play while likewise impacting injuries as players use that same size and speed, instead of technique, to play.

Add in the Thursday night debacles - highlighting these shortfalls even further - and parity isn't just a result of full free agency and roster changeover due to non-guaranteed contracts, but a product that is based on monetary decision making rather than the product on the field.

There's likely a cultural component too - if the league doesn't care to champion teaching and fundamentals as a foundation of good, and safer play, why the heck should the players?

Don't sleep on the Texans. It looks like they finally have a QB & BOB is a heck of a coach.

It's the refs and rules changing. Offensive Linemen epidemic.

The NFL is nothing like it was in 70's 80's or 90's So many great teams back then, so many great QB's back before all the stupid rule changes.None of today's teams could match up to the best of yesteryear.Winning a SB meant so much more back then, you were truly the best of the best, now you're just better than most of the average league.
