Are we ignoring the recent Guerrero news?

Mike the Brit has the answers ....pay attention Bill.

NE should scour Europe for doctors who have had the biggest impact on European sport.
Let's try to hire the doctor of recently banned British cycling champion/ Tour de France winner Chris Froome. His prescription pad can't be all that busy these days.
Lance Armstrong's state of the art Italian doctors must have some free time on their hands.
Now I know Mike the Brit is basing his position on the influx of medical technology brought into European soccer. Some teams have group nap time, group snack time, personal fluffers to help take the edge off, etc. which all sounds great. And I'm sure the physios who devote their lives to help maintain the ultimate fitness level for their 150 lb non contact athletes are the finest on the continent and the Isle.
Money better spent...IMO....would be to trim away the extra costs hyperbolic chambers and other very important gear and personelle ....and divert these funds towards better recruitment of Latin players....the only players that matter.
And if any money is left over....a DENTAL plan.

Trainers probably just complained about not being able to do their job Fully.

One missing control variable in Tommy Boy's regimen that needs exploration is his frequent "close interaction" with a hot supermodel.
For Patsfans scientific curiosity edification, I hereby offer my body for use as a test subject to see if this ******s effects of aging.

Actually I can't believe I just read all 12 page of this, and even replied to a post. While I find the "issue" laughable, it WAS an entertaining way to kill an hour where I had nothing better to do. And I think THAT's the point.

What I have seen, for the most part has been nothing more than 12 pages of SPECULATION, including lots of speculation on OTHER people's speculation. Well since this entire thread is based on baseless speculation, I thought, "why not me too". So here are my 2 cents.

1. Whatever Guerrero's past was, Brady trusts the guy completely now. And I have to believe that that trust was EARNED through some very real results that Brady has seen while AG has been working for him.

2. @DSting added a very insightful observation to this discourse by pointing out the natural suspicion AT's have with soft tissue guys. (and probably visa versa). I'm guessing that this is where the conflict lies. SPECULATION that AG was preaching against what the medical staff advised, could very well have caused AG to have his access limited. I understand that. BB needs to have a clear line of command that includes the medical department. Outside influences, like AG, can be tolerated UNTIL there is a conflict. And when that occurs, it has to be resolved. BB has simply resolved it quickly and internally. End of a very small non-story.

3. The way I see it, none of this affects the Brady/AG relationship, or for that matter the Brady/BB relationship

4. As far as AG's methods go, I refer to Dr Flynn, who writes for the BSJ. Clearly she has issues with AG's past, but so does everyone else. It's not a good past. But it is the PAST. In the today, she DOES acknowledge the good things she sees like the pliability, massages, exercises, etc. Her only conflict with AG is when/if he makes so called "medical decisions" that go in conflict with actual licensed medical professionals.

As we know, Dr's make mistakes too, and by an large are all very jealous of their control of the medical process. Flynn's opinion is both understandable and open. Like Dsting pointed out, there is more than one school of thought on how to treat athletic injuries. Flynn to her credit is open to alternative ideas. (and her stuff is another reason to join BSJ)

Again, it is important to point out that Guerrero EARNED Brady's trust because of the results he actually saw in his methods. It is also important to note that those methods might not work as well for other positions. The physical requirements to function as a QB are a lot different than those of a OG, for example.

That being said, it is hard not to notice. Gronk's improved performance this year. Many reporters have noticed how much more fluid and athletic his running has been, since he's been going to TB12.

5. So why do we have a 12 page thread (and counting) with over 200 posts? Well the answer lies in 2 parts. First we have a media that constantly needs content to fill 4 hour slots 24 hours a day, and that's just radio. If not for this story, what are they going to talk about. The Bills?????? The "catch"....again. How well the Pats are run and organized....again?????

No. Been there and done that over and over. By creating or at best embellishing the importance of a minor occurrence, they get another issue to talk, write, or otherwise expound for a few hours. In the end its just filler guys both for them and US.

This paragraph from the Globe article gets to the heart of the matter...

Belichick indicated to the team’s medical and training staff at the time that his hands were tied because of Brady’s special status with the franchise, according to a source with direct knowledge of Belichick’s exchange with the staffers. The source said Belichick told those who complained about Guerrero: Tom wants him. What am I supposed to do?

Has Brady earned special status? Of Course
Has Brady sacrificed for the team? His 50 cents on the dollar pay check is the ultimate sacrifice enabling NE to assemble a deeper roster (most years)

Does Brady's "special status" diminish Belichick's authoritative control within the organization? Absolutely. Allowing two clashing entities, NE's medical/training staff vs Guerrero & Co. to coexist within the confines of Gillette, is proof positive Belichick had ceded some authority.

Has "special status" been a negative for NE in the past? That answer likely varies depending on who you ask. Gronkowski carved out a "special status" designation ...allowing his agent, family, personal doctors to call the shots ...after repeated injury+distrust of NE's medical staff. Given Gronk's value to the team, BB deferred to his player's wishes...but at the same time let it be known indirectly of his dissatisfaction of the arrangement. In the short run, Gronk's cautious approach meant NE fielded weaker rosters. In the long run, Gronk is healthier and beastier today.

Has BB reached a tipping point? Most definitely. Having more NFL success and experience spanning over 5 decades than any human alive, BB understands locker rooms and human nature. He has demonstrated a zero tolerance approach to "locker room lawyers" and his recent Guerrero actions demonstrate a similar approach....though we can't call it "zero tolerance". Let's call it "2% tolerance" since BB has allowed Guerrero to retain partial on-site access to just one player.

I'm interested in Brady's mind set on this.
"Patriot Way" Tom Brady has to understand BB's mindset on this one....eliminate distractions, unified focus, singular goal, etc.
On the other hand.....Businessman/loyal friend/pliability believer Tom Brady must have his own strong opinions on the matter....including some animosity because BB's actions diminish his brand.

Knowing team player Brady as we do, this "matter" is now history IMO.....despite how many times the Henry's Globe keeps reprinting their version of the "news"
Meh. I think Hit Piece Hohler took liberty with the term "Special status" but whatever. Hes the QB and the GOAT and BB treats him differently.

BB cannot stop a player from seeing his own doctor or seeking a second opinion. Thats why his hands were tied

From snippets of national (not local) AM talk radio this morning, where it was a big topic, they seem very hopeful that this will turn into a Mark McGuire / Barry Bonds / Lance Armstrong scenario, where they can taint Brady's legacy and ignore the 17-year run that CONTINUES to annoy them so much. That is a pretty concise synopsis of the Dan Lebatard show this morning. He kept pointing out that Brady at 40 is doing something nobody every did before, like Bonds, like McGuire. Over and over. Lebatard's a Dolphins fan, of course.

I know... I shouldn't listen, but I can't resist when the topic is making my ears bleed.

Some people aren't crazy about have TB and the Patriots associated with a guy who, while he may have some really good ideas about nutrition, etc, also has a history as a glorified snake oil salesman. Back in the day, he had a clinic in CA, where he went by the moniker of Dr. Alejandro Guerrero, and he had a miracle cure. He claimed he'd done 'clinical studies' on 200 terminally ill patients suffering from assorted things such as cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. And 8 years later they were all supposedly alive, thanks to Supreme Greens(tm) (see his late night informercial for more). He also “promoted the product as, among other things, an effective treatment, cure, and preventative for cancer, heart disease, arthritis, and diabetes, and as a means of achieving substantial weight loss of up to 80 pounds in 8 months,” according to a complaint filed by the Federal Trade Commission. In addition, the FTC noted, Guerrero and his associates “claimed that Supreme Greens can be taken safely by pregnant women, children—including children as young as one year old—and any person taking any type of medication.”

Except it turned out he was not a doctor, not even of oriental medicine, and the clinical study had never existed. Supreme Greens had never been scientifically tested at all. He is supposed to (according to the FTC) have raked in 16 million in 18 months selling the stuff.

Then a decade later, he was hawking concussion water, NeuroSafe—a “seatbelt for your brain” that promised to protect users “from the consequences of sports-related traumatic brain injury. Endorsed by Tom Brady.

I'm sure there are elements to what he does that are beneficial, but that's a whole lot of bad karma to be dragging around, and I'm not especially enthusiastic about him being associated strongly with the Patriots brand. Not to mention, based on his previous actions, there really is no telling what he might put in a supliment that he then gives to the players.

... and now Tom Brady publishes a book stating that he's sunburn free due to hydration. Hey, they're Tom's words, so they don't attach to Guerrero... but let's take a wild guess as to who first helped Tom get the idea he's gonna be ok out in the sun without any SPF...

@Palm Beach Pats Fan - speaking of "stupid money-making nonsense", how about (totally OT) this: FAQ | HFACTOR

Wait... so I can take some tap water, bubble a gas through it, bottle it, and sell it for HOW MUCH?

I could also bundle it with sugar pills, triple the price, and call it a "method"!

I'm skilled in the art of serial dilution. Want that active ingredient in the ppb? CAN DO! I'll dilute and distill so effectively you won't even know it's there.

did ...not...read...this...thread

question...is it "all bad!" again?...just wanna get prepared for the inevitable bawkfest

In my nearly 6 decades of following the Patriots, this is far and away the most overblown amount of attention given to an inconsequential story I've seen, bar none.

You know every time I go to the supermarket and go down the aisle that has all the rows and rows of bottled water, I can't help but thing back to my 20's which put me in the early 70's, and image going to a friend and say, "Hey Fred, I got a great idea. Lets put water in a bottle and sell it for a buck a piece". You would have been called insane if you offered this as a great idea back then.

Fast forward to the present, and I'm one of only a few people I know who still drinks water from the tap. (just too cheap, I guess. ) But then again, I can remember back in the 80's when it took 2 people to carry around your "portable" computer, and NOW we all carry one in our pockets.

Everyone knows Guinness is good for you. That is a scientific fact.

I haven't read the whole thread, so maybe it's been mentioned, but this is starting to feel like the next Defamegate in the making. Seems trivial, laugh it off, "ha, ha," next thing we know the NFL is investigating, Wells is on the case, and the punishments start rolling in. The NFL has zero disincentive to do this. Kraft will hug whoever, whenever.

Given the state of /some/ tap water in the US of A, you might be well advised to have it checked out first.

That's actually one of the reasons I'm uncomfortable with Guerrero.

So a lot of speculation and water is good for you? Got it.
