I like our odds if we can get a Gonzo/Davis vs Hill/Waddel match up. We have nothing to shut down the TE over the middle stuff like the Raiders, but we match up better against MIA. The weather for Sunday is 84 degrees and 35% chance of rain. This is a big help to us because the visitor's sideline in directly in the sun, and home has shade. If its 95, it is miserable on the visitor's bench.

It's gonna get ugly around here if the Pats lose this game, isn't it? Vrabel's superjock antics are going to come off a lot less entertaining, and Josh will need a security detail. Our hopes are elevated this year, which will only exacerbate our disappointment. I think we knew Bill was washed up, and nobody really had much confidence in Robert's charming travel companion - I know I never did - but this year we thought we really might have something. I hope we were right.

I do not believe that past results (in Miami) dictate future performance. New HC, competent OC and 50% of Pats team is new.
If Pats Lose to pathetic Phins HC & team, NFW I'm buying NFL Sunday Ticket for December in Florider.

It isn't ugly now with all the fake fans whining and crying because they are too stupid to realize this is year one of yet another rebuild rather than a playoff run?

Win or Lose Maye better have one of those game. I would rather us lose and he looks good: than we lose and he looks like a headless chicken.

Maybe you meant to say: I'd rather us lose and Maye & offense look good and competent by scoring ~24, than us winning an ugly 9-6 game where Maye is worse than vs Raiders.

They have the personnel to do that: this Team is not as talent devoid as the Mayo regime.

Yes, but I totally agree with Lazar - they HAVE to be productive in the run game for us to succeed offensively. This was the worst time to have Maye throw 46 times. Maybe by week 12, but not the first game!!!
Should have leaned on the run when only down 7, until last 1/8 of the game if they had to wing it to try to win.

It should be quite obvious that Rham is a loss whenever his number is called. He's not a poor man's Corey Dillon.

Xavier Howard former CB for the Dolphins who now plays for the Colts said on Monday the day after the week one game that if you take away Tua’s first read then panic mode sets in and that’s what the Colts focused on. Something to keep an eye on this Sunday.

I agree completely. I'm seeing this as the first year of a two or three-year rebuild. I'm hoping to see progress each week, whatever the score or record might be, and nothing is more important to the team's progress than Drake's development. Last week was pretty discouraging, but I suppose all rebuilds are messy to a degree. I just don't want to fall into the sort of persistent malaise the Jets and other teams have been in for years.

I think the OL will be challenged to win in the run blocking. If they can get some rhythm on the ground, we should control the tempo and TOP, and the D will figure it out vs. Tua.

If Maye looks good, we don't lose this game.

Miami gave up 156 yards rushing against the Colts. Jones had two rushing TDs. The potential for the run is good.

I agree that a run game is essential both in general and in the context of Josh's schemes. Week one, the O-line did better at pass protection than I thought they might and very much worse at run blocking. I found that surprising. I am also left wondering whether it might not be time to give up on hopes that Rhamondre can regain his former effectiveness He looks shot to me, inconsistent in his effort, contact shy.

I think there is wisdom in he idea that you just have to persist with your running game, even when the results are not what you might like, because the threat of the run, even when the results are not great, imposes a burden on the defense, divides their attention. Sometimes you just have to bang away.

As I sit here typing, there's a carpenter doing the demo work to replace a sort of glass wall in my living room. He's just banging away at it (my dogs are going nuts, acting like a bunch of Pats fans). The finesse stuff will come later (I hope), but first you do the banging stuff. The dogs just don't get that.

Let's face it. All teams have to have a successful running game in most games to succeed offensively. If the opposing defense doesn't fear the run they can either blitz a lot or drop seven or eight guys into coverage all game.

Maye was doing good in the first half when they were attempting to run the ball. i think all 18 runs were in the first half. They didn't attempt a run in the second half, and thats when mayes play suffered.

Count me as one that thought poor mans Corey was a decent comp after his first 2 years. But since then he just hasn't been the same. And no where near the physical runner Corey was. Silly comp to have ever made.

I think we are going to still need him so I don't think it's time to panic yet and hand it over to Henderson but at the same time I don't know how long we can leave him as RB1 if Henderson clearly looks better. And Gibson too of course.

That’s crazy no rushing attempts in the 2nd half.

Josh always had this weird habit of wanting to play tricks on the defense like that fake tush push. Just play straight up football without the BS Brady isn't here and the team is light on talent.
