A few bad decisions from a personnel & scheme perspective that cost us in the game...

Maybe starting Wilson instead of Brown at LG wasn't smart, or necessary. Brown is pretty assignment-sound, Wilson had some blown plays. No chance on going back on the rookie now - just need to be better in MIA.

The lack of run game in 2nd half was a huge mistake - so is starting Rham. Better be a lot of Gibson & Henderson in MIA

Clearly T. Will outsmarted himself for his big debut - better have a big dose of reality and quick adjustments ready on that call sheet.

We're stuck with Hawkins & Woodson at FS - I'd rather have Woodson be the deep cover guy to NEVER let anyone get behind him.

We need a lot more from White & Chaisson to get pass rush pressure. (Don't have Barmore & Williams cover)

Spillane was the biggest bubble-pop of last week. I really hope that was a fluke.

Yes it absolutely is. Watch the freaking game. The Patriots defense was on the field the entire 2nd half because Drake Maye **** the bed, and they refused to run the ball.

Ok clown show. They could not run the ball.

I hope this is a good comeback game for the team as a whole. Focus on fundamentals

Defense - enough of stupid aggression. Don't blitz every freaking play if your DBs can't cover. We might need to play man more against fins as their wide receivers are elite and will roast us in zone.

Offense - 60% run game and 40% passing. Just run Rhamondre like crazy behind the fullback and see if he has still got it. If he makes no progress in first quarter just go full throttle with Henderson and get another running back from some other teams practice squad. Allow maye to gunsling a bit . Few turnovers might be there but he might also be able to get few wow worthy TD throws which amps up his confidence . Unleash Williams on the outside. I would get Chism in, instead of Hollins just to add the safety valve unless they feel hollins can stretch the field with some jump balls .

I think the goal for this season should be evaluation. Playoffs be damned .

I am okay if by end of season we are winning consecutive games. Something like what lions had in 2022/2023

NGL. Agree 100%. Watched him a bunch last season (Raiders are always on here for some reason) he always flashed.

I do think he’ll settle in

I'd suggest letting Maye gunsling it a bit is exactly what they don't want to do. Mayes OC is McD whose whole raison d'être is process over gun slinging. If Favre had played with Josh he would have lasted two years and then ended up career wise as something like Trevor Lawrence. Maye needs to learn to operate and THINK in Josh's system.

Open it up, no more of these draw runs on 2nd and 10. Maybe do Henderson 3 to 1 on Rhomdre. Speed up the offense and make Drake react rather than overthink.

They CAN beat Miami but I’m leaning more towards a sloppy game where in the end the Patriots just can’t offensively keep up with Miami

As long as our WRs get some separation they don't have to be JJ to get those pedestrian numbers. As I noted, it wasn't about the game numbers it was the 4Q make **** happen to win. Be the guy.

Its not just about WR. Like I posted, the Vikings are a stacked team. Winning takes a team, not just a QB. JJ did not win it himself. He led a very good team and a great supporting cast. Its just not fair or comparable to compare the Vikings to the Pats. Put JJ on our team team, which was one of the worst rosters in the NFL last year, and its very different for him. Put Drake on the Vikings and its different for him too. You seem to think one man won that game. No, he didn't. It was a great team win.

If they can go into Miami a house of horrors for the team and pull out a win I’ll be very impressed. If not, they’ll be looking at 0-3 as a real possibility with Pittsburgh coming to town the following week.

Not as a good of a start as @BobDigital but here you go. Kill the fish or 0-2, thoughts?

I'm thinking it's a first win against the Dullphins in Miami in a while and that Vrabel uses the Raiders game to get the team focused. What say you?
This team always struggles in Miami and Tua always plays like Brady at his best against us….so obviously hoping I’m wrong but I think we will start out 0-2

Tua is toast. Hit him a few times and he will fold
Never that great to begin with …..his career only hit an upside when they signed Tyreek Hill…..

Somethings not right with Hill. Don’t want to jinx anything by saying he’s washed, but he’s been in a funk for a while.

Waddle, Hill and Tua are all in the back 9 of their careers.
Waddle isn’t that old…..this is is his 4th year I believe….hes just been injured a lot !

I'm expecting another loss i don't care how bad the Dolphins looked in Indy, the Patriots always **** the bed in Miami make that lefty Mac Jones look competent.

The amount of blitzes not getting home on 3rd and long and big plays given up last week i can see the Dolphins getting a couple of big plays that the Patriots wont and that being enough to win the game.
Lefty Mac Jones….that is a really good comparison…..

Was Miami really that bad or more of a fluke week 1 game? Looking for any hope NE can beat them in Miami.

It seemed to me that the Raiders defense was favoring the run. Very disappointed that we couldn't get anything going with Wilson and Campbell on the left side.

No effective play action.
I assume, without seeing All-22, that the Raiders played a Mac Jones type defense of pack the box with zone. They were daring us to beat them with short to intermediate passes mostly to the outside. Maye could not do it. Mac didn't have the arm talent, Maye does. Chism might help with the zone reads. Williams is more man cover guy this early. Have to dink and dunk until they change the defense. We could not do that.

They were supposed to be really bad. All preseason the rumblings were there of the team imploding. Reports said their joint practice with Detroit was the most lobsided they’ve seen. So yes they are pretty damn bad, just depends on whether we are worse which is a scary thought right now.

Thoughts on Miami....

They aren't as bad as the score last game said, but they aren't good.

Let's start with the D. They gave up 33 points to Indy... not so great. But keep in mind their offense gave up 3 turnovers and didn't do much most of the game. So they were kind of left out to dry. Their talent isn't that bad. They lost some players since last year and are worse on paper, but they got pretty good pressure and overall held up well vs the run on a per run average. I think their DL played okay. Not great but respectable. Robinson is an up and coming young player with a lot of promise. Judon has a bit left in the tank. Chubb looks close to 100%. Sieler is not thought of highly enough but he is a good player. Grant the young draft pick may or may not live up to his 13th overall pick status. But the point is there is plenty of talent on that line. The Pats OL will have a much harder challenge this week overall.

As for their pass D. It is the weaker part of their D as you'd expect. They lost a lot last year and gained very little to nothing of note. Fitzpatrick can't hold it all together by himself. They gave up some decent sized windows to the Colts. Hopefully we can take advantage.

As for their offense... Tua won't play that bad again. But they don't have much going for them. Hill looks to not be bouncing back. He lost a step for sure.. and speed was most of his game. Waddle just isn't the same without peak Hill to take heat off him. As the #1 he has shown very little. Archane is absolutely dangerous though... and their OL is... so-so. Or was... Losing Daniel Jones in the opener was a killer. He was suppose to be the glue to hold it together. Austin Jackson their RT being out to on the same side... not good at all. Add in a rookie LG (high draft pick but rookie). This OL has issues. Als Darren Waller maybe not suiting up wouldn't help either.

Even if Tua were to play well... I don't see them having a ton of things they can do. So they aren't as bad as shown last game.... but they won't be good.

I think our DL will feast again. As for our DBs... Davis won't play that bad 2 weeks in a row. He is a good player. But that was horrible. Spillane will do better too. The DBs as a whole will. That was just messy. But can we stop their run game? I think so. At least we can keep it from doing much damage. So i think our D will have a better week than last week.

As for our offense... Hard to say. The Raiders pass D wasn't that good either, but they couldn't get open consistently. As for holding up to their pass rush. I think the OL did well last week but this week it won't just be the outside or 2 players to worry about. It will come from everywhere. Clearly the Pats can and need to do better on the ground. I don't think they will be on the ball against dump offs to the RBs as much as the Raiders were... they were all over every one of them. Miami let a fair amount go and gave some cushion.. i think they will again. And they had trouble with the TEs last week which boast well for another big game by Henry. But we need more Williams, a lot more. Put Chism out there too. Less Stevenson more Gibson.

A lot depends on how our OL handles their DL. IT will be close i think.
