Need Gonzo back healthy. One game at a time.
If he is out next week that is a Huge problem….we have to have Gonzo out there

If they play as well as they can, they will be a tough out for anybody.

But if today is any indication, I am a little afraid of facing that Houston D and front.

The OL need to be much better
Well said ….OL was horrible today….if we play Houston like that Maye won’t survive and score will be even lower. OL has to tighten up especially Campbell!

I said it in the GDT but I was VERY impressed with Maye's ball security in the first half. He took a lot of good sacks that would sometimes be lost fumbles and just held the ball and took the sack. He also threw away a lot of balls. He reverted a bit in the second half on two sack fumbles but he also played lights out in that half. It might be just something you have to accept. It seems like when he's protecting the ball he's thinking too hard about it but when he's loose and comfortable and slinging the ball around he gets careless at times.

I hope he can learn to put the two together and play loose but not reckless. I'm glad he had a game like this and can live to play another game next week that should do wonders for his confidence
You can tell it's something he has worked on and improved. That's the scariest thing for the rest of the league this is pretty clearly not even his final form. I'm not saying I want him to go full Aaron Rodgers, that dude's risk taking is at like a 3, and is why he has so few 4q comebacks and playoff wins.

One of the many things Brady was almost flawless at was playing most of the game at a 5, but knowing exactly those got to have it moments cranking it up to an 8. It's why the fumble in the 2nd Eagles Superbowl was so surprising, Brady was usually so much better about feeling the rush and hitting White instead of waiting for Gronk down field.

Getting back to Maye, absolutely don't want him to change his style of play. It lets him hit big plays down field which for large parts of many games is the only reason we have been in them. It's one of the things I am concerned about that might knock us out of the playoffs. Live by the big play die by the big play when they don't connect like they usually do. I would just like him to be just a smidge better about knowing the situation, and living to fight another day if it's not there. Like I said though he's young and improving so I'm not super concerned about it.

Charges rested guys because the wanted to play us... Be careful what you wish for
Not looking like too good a decision now does it!!!?

The biggest take away from tonight is the Pats can win without relying on Drake Maye to carry them and the defense carried the team for tonight. I think that is huge for the rest of the playoffs.

I am not that worried about the offense. The Chargers have been holding passing offenses to like 150 yards a game. The Pats did over that. And I will chock the turnovers and fumbles to it being Maye’s first playoff game.

The o-line is a concern especially if they have to face the Texans and Broncos, but I have faith that McDaniels will come up with a fix to minimize the problem.

I am glad the Pats are seeing the Texans or Steelers next week because I fear that Gonzalez won’t clear concussion protocols by then.
I’m not that confident in McDaniels his lack of adjustments in big games is notorious! Obviously have to get ball out quicker and find ways to get guys open faster with these better defenses.

We're moving on. Discuss.
What a gutsy win. Overcoming adversity with the turnovers. The defense was huge.. a vintage patriots postseason win. Can we get some respect on the LBs names.. guys like Ellis and Gibbens have made names for themselves with this team.

Forgot to mention Boutte, he came up big. The long catch came at a very crucial time.

Hopefully Campbell and Wilson were just a bit rusty. Very tough matchup for both of them but theyve faced tough opponents before and never struggled to this extent. Will missed several weeks and this was his first opponent that actually wanted to be there. Wilson’s first action altogether in 3 weeks. This was a tough welcome back draw for any OL. We’ll see how they bounce back next week

Hate to sound like I wasn’t confident in Vrabel, but i was really suprised to see him and Kuhr dominate harbaugh and his crew. I thought the coaching matchup was pretty even going in. Youve gotta feel pretty good about the Maye and Vrabel combo

Wasn't pretty, but results is all it matters this time of the year

3 more baby

Yeah I was surprised by how unpretty it was. But I think that’s mainly because Drake Maye looked downright bad at times.

That being said, the Patriots Defense looked stifling. Wow was that impressive.

He really needs to stop playing hero ball which is something that's been a persistent issue for him all season. The fumble was 100% on him. He needs to learn to just take the sack and as you say: "live to fight another day."

I said in the pre game, they needed to attack Herbert, and man did they! They just kept blitzing him, because they proved they couldn't handle it! Left side of the O Line needs to play better. Stephenson is a beast!

Shout out to Borealis, rookie playing in his first playoff game in nasty weather goes three for three.

You can call it awareness or pocket presence or risk management, or heroball and over aggressive. Whatever you call it there were clearly two times in this game and several earlier in the year where he needs to understand the situation, stop fighting, protect the ball and eat the sack. It's a minor thing and he's young and has worked on and fixed a lot of issues so I am not worried about it for now. He just needs to tweak his HAVE to make a play from an 8 to a 7. Sometimes it is better to fight another day. If Wilson hadn't pounced on that fumble and the Chargers scoop and score it's a very different game.

Encouraging that he had an awful first half and bounced back for his far more typical excellent play in the 2nd, speaks well to our chances we got a great one.
If you tell him to stop extending plays you lose all the positive plays he creates which hurts more than a rare turnover. You can’t have it both ways.
