I’m now of the mind that Kraft should fire BB now.

Bill has all the leverage…he’ll just half-ass it out of spite.

If you won’t be able to get comp, and it’s going to get ugly anyway, why keep this up?

Bill seems the type to spite Kraft by not showing for future ceremonies anyway, so just get it over with.
It was a pipe dream to think the guy who embarrassed his new team by writing his resignation on a napkin and blindsiding everyone at his first press conference was going to leave amicably. He was never going to make this easy. And in fairness, if he's getting canned, he shouldn't. It's business.

Which is why Kraft shouldn't be sentimental about this. Rip the bandaid off. Bill shouldn't even be in a position to make signings or trade draft picks at this point in time. He had 5 years to rebuild, the team is worse than ever, they are starting to have comical negative streaks that are going back to nearly a century ago, the assistant coaching situation has been a mess for years, his drafts look worse the further away we get from them. It's just time to call it for what it is.

The Chargers are seriously in contention for worst defense we played along with the Giants and Washington. They are 28th in yards and 24th in ppg. What's more they are actually the 31st ranked team in passing defense. You can crap on Mac all you want because he isn't good... but Zappe just played an absymal defense and got shut out. Mac's only got shutout once in the last 3 seasons and it was to the Saints who are ranked 10th in yards, 9th in ppg and are the 6th best passing defense.

So that's your comparison. Everyone who wanted Zappe to get first team reps and have a week where he was the known starter and was all prepared got a huge gift in getting to see him play one of the ****tiest defenses in the NFL that have found ways to lose week after week. What's more, they got a gift of getting to see him agianst the 2nd worst passing defense in the league. The result was he needed 7 points to win and got 0. We were plagued by all the same problems we were the whole year with the pocket collapsing, the QB getting sacked, WR drops, etc.

This wasn't some vindication of all the Zappe truthers or that Mac would have done worse. Historically Mac actually had a much better chance to win this game. So I'm kinda glad he was benched.

I still think it is funny that the some of the same people who claimed the offensive personnel was fine and it was just Mac making them look bad are now trying to say Zappe was really good today, but he has no one who can catch the ball or could block for him. As if when they benched Mac, they also benched all the good players around him who were really good at the same time.

Zappe was awful in the first half. He had times he played really well in the second half, but fell apart at the end of the game. He did some things much better than Mac. He did others much worse. Overall all he was bad, but not awful. Still not good enough to score a single point against a bad defense and he is about to face one of the best defenses in the league on Thursday.

Oh it's hilarious. So many of the plays this game you could find a comp for something that happened earlier in the season and it would look almost one to one the same. Funny how now those people are noticing that the talent sucks alot.

I still say Kraft needs to let him finish the year. No matter what Belichick might do, you gotta do the right thing and not embarrass the guy who got you six rings and countless more AFC championships and conference title appearances by firing him midseason. Kraft needs to do that for his legacy as well as Belichick's.

I think there is a lot of speculation of what Belichick might do, but no one knows. My guess is that he wants to leave and go somewhere with a much better situation and try to get the wins record and possibly another ring. If he stays here, he will stripped of his GM responsibilities and be looking at a complete rebuild that could take longer than he will be coaching (and he only one year left on his contract anyway). I think he wants to redeem himself by going out with at least a winning record, if not another ring. He isn't getting that here for one more year.

It is good they are finally getting around to admitting that there is next to no talent on the offense,. But even after today and blaming the receivers and/or o-line for Zappe not scoring or playing great, I bet they still will argue that Mac had plenty of talent and every sack, bad pass, and INT was 100% his fault.

listening to the game on the radio in the car today, im so glad i didn't watch it, and instead did other stuff

I mean, it's clearly a cursed year. (Maybe a cursed 4 years)
To lose our 2 top D players (by week 4), then our top offensive player (Bourne) week 8. Now, to lose Rham (likely for the rest of the year)...
It's just pouring on the insult. This is the most pathetic team in the NFL by a long stretch.
I seriously don't know how BB could even think he might stay next year. In the NFL this type of failure = firing 100% of the time.

You could maybe argue 2013 or 2014 more than that one. I don't think Butler would've helped as much as people think in 2017
Eric Rowe's poor play resulted in 10 points alone. He got his ankles broken on a 3rd down conversation which led to a field goal and then gave up a long TD. He was quickly taken off of Jeffery after that.

Bill put the worst graded CB in the NFL on the Eagles best WR when reports were coming from the Eagles media that they were going to target Rowe. This was straight up amateur hour from Bill.

we'll never know but I suspect discussion about said topic will get the ire of a certain cadre of IBWT fools on Patsfans
Bill's old, probably over the hill as an NFL coach but we shouldn't look back and give him credit for what he did in his prime years, it's about respect, maybe he's on too long and a change would be good but those 20 years sure were fun.

Was that the worst game of all time??

Man... the defense has to be pissed. Allowing an average of 8.6 points over the last 3 weeks, but the offense is scoring an average of 4.3 points per week in the same period... so they're 0-3.
I know the D played well today and has been solid this season. Something positive to build on!

I’m not one to agitate or cause drama intentionally, but I’m also not one to let what others think influence wether to ask fair and critical questions either.

Even though Zappe threw a bunch of awful passes and failed to get rid of the ball several times and failed to score even a single point it was better than watching Jones.
True. Zappe never got our hopes up on any drives, so no dramatic disappointment. Just fizzle after fizzle.
