The case for Diggs... Trevon Diggs

If he can't play for Dallas - that doesn't say too much about his ability at this point.

He had a decent couple of years, and fell off a cliff. It happens. He's a Terrell Buckley-type, a gambler, not a real cover guy.

Is he better than Cobee Minor and Charles Woods? Probably. Would he actually help this year? Probably not.
He's better than Some Guys we have who should be on a Taxi Squad: and not on a Active Roster.

He simply hasn't been the same player since his knee injuries. Our corner CBs play a decent amount of man which was his strength.

Always worth a discussion/workout but this late in the year seems an unlikely fit. Seems like the tire -kicking would be better in 2026 than now.

Dallas released him because he wanted to stay in DC after the Dallas-Wash game, because the Diggs are from Maryland. Dallas refused even though they were heading to an extended break. He said, "fine, I'll just catch a play back to DC when we land in Dallas" and that is why they cut him.

He is a man to man CB and they have him playing zone. Once had 11 INTs in one season, plus you have the incentive to play with his brother, I say give him a shot.
Better not let the Bills get him: don't let them improve their Defense anymore.

Is he? Because the Cowboys just cut him and ate a cap hit to get him off the team.

They're not exactly an incredible secondary.

Yess Tommy our $h!t backups are so much better than him. IF Buffalo ever get him: sighs let me stop right here.

Buffalo has panic-signed every dumpster-cut free agent they could all season. Just like Philadelphia has.

If they sign Trayvon Diggs, he'll probably start, and if he does, it just shortens their postseason. I already said in this very thread that he's probably better than Cobee Minor or Charles Woods - but there's also the real possibility he's on the field in a big spot and gets torched because he gambled on a play.

I'll take my chances either way. I hope Buffalo signs him. (They won't, because of Stephon, but I hope they do).

He is not currently a FA, not until 4 pm Eastern anyway. While it's unlikely anyone takes on that contract, he's not a FA yet
His contract is actually very affordable considering the quality of player he is.. Not to mention that any team could cut him after the season w/o penalty. So, they add him for what amount to 500K for 1 game and the play-offs. If he works out, then you have great depth to protect against injury. If not, you can cut him and it costs you nothing in 2026.

Not sure they really NEED a corner. Gonzalez/Davis/Jones are a very good top 3. Even if you bring in Diggs, he's the 4th corner who wouldn't see the field much. I'd probably rather get a new 3rd safety first.

For 500K, he's a better option than Woods or Austin for the remainder of the year.

I disagree I Don't like testing the depth after our Top 3. I would go get him for better depth: Miles Austin sucks too.
Who is "Miles Austin"?? There is no one on the Pats by that name.

I'm not as low on the most Experienced Team in the AFC PLAYOFFS as you are. They have Superman Josh Allen who carved our Defense up. That Game probably costs us the lone Bye-Week.

You're ignoring the fact that the only way Allen was able to "carve up the defense" was because of the bogus calls by the refs and the fact they looked the other way with the Bills O-line and their holding/false starts.

Woods yes. Austin no.
Go back and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers game if you think Austin is good. He let a 5'9 guy out jump him for a sure pick: clueless and embarrassing.

Experience losing is still experience, I guess.

Making it all the less likely he clears waivers and becomes a FA. There are 30 teams ahead of the Pats in the waiver claims order

Lose Gonzo or Marcus for any amount of time and you'll see. I not even that high on Davis who still better than the alternatives.
No, that's me.

You have watched zero Trayvon Diggs snaps in the last 3 years if you're lobbying this hard for his signing.

It's your usual M.O. "Name I have heard of in a boundary position" = "PATRIOTS MUST SIGN IMMEDIATELY".

Well I remember the BB Teams having much better depth at CB than this Mike Vrabel Team. Our CB depth is abysmal.
Troy Brown, and that 5 foot guy who was a starter for a while.

The way the game is now, Nickel is really the base defense and We have our 3 best CB's locked into those positions. After Jones, Gonzo, and Davis, who is our #4? Diggs had 11 picks over his first 3 seasons and looked like he was on his way to being an elite CB. Then he he got the knee injury and his next 2 years were essentially lost, as was a lot of this year. All his guarantees are paid by Dallas, and next year is next year. Check on his current health for sure but why not put in a claim. We NEED that 4trh guy and what's the risk?
