It's true that the Giants have some good players and a QB on a rookie contract. It's also true that they are right up against the cap this year and next, which shows that the GM is a good deal of the problem.
I would take BB today.

The Giants are undisciplined and looked unprepared.

BB isn't a NCAA football HC. Belichicks methods still apply to this NFL and Vrable is a student of BB. Look at the players that BB chose who are stepping up this season - Marc Jones, Boutte, Mapu, Gonzalez, Pop, Rahm, Barmore, A Jennings. Nope, my first HC qualification is a guy who has prior NFL HC experience and my second qualification is a guy who has a Super Bowl championship under his belt. Belichick would have little trouble assembling a staff too.

The more likely scenario is next year we’re 7-6 or 8-5 at this time of year. I think we’ll have a second winning season next year but it’s hard to go 11-2. We aren’t a dynasty *yet*
What? You are just waving a wand and making them 3-4 games worse for no reason?

I think the NY Giants are going to go after Bill Belichick.
I think the Carroll era in Las Vegas is a warning sign for over-the-hill coaches. Look who has had success this year: Vrabel in NE and Ben Johnson with the Bears. The Giants need to find their hot coach who has had a lot of experience and has a plan to reshape the whole organization.

I was head-bobbing with you until this last one.

That was kinda a big part of the problem his last several years in NE. Now that all his protoges are spread to the 4 winds; MAYBE he could pull them back together .... but more likely is he would need to find new 'guys he trusts' and he just wasnt terribly good at finding NEW guys like that.
I get there should be tons of folks who would like the resume enhancer of "worked under BB". But he didnt want to expand his tree at the end and we got stuck w/ the DC running the offense. so what is new now that he is 4 yeas older and crotchety-er

Patricia would come back. Judge would come back. Saban isnt working.

Could BB pry Mcdaniels away from NE to screw the Krafts?

Pats got lucky that Vrabel was available. It never seemed right to me watching him coach the Titans, he even scooped the Pats during the draft by drafting Patriots-type players before we could get him.

It just felt like he belonged here, and I am glad he is home.

Sometimes we forget how hard it is to find a great HC, and kudos to Kraft for moving on from Mayo when both Vrabel and Ben Johnson were available.

BB might be the best available option, at least short term, for the Giants, and I would like to see him get the all time wins record.

If Lowe plays like that for the rest of the season, this LT who so many here wanted banished, would likely bring a good trade return if the Pats were willing to move him.

3rd rounder?

Of course, if he plays that well he would be worth keeping as the backup.

I think that is way too early to think about that. Let have play 2 or 3 good games in a row. He was bad last year. Consistency is the key.

Agreed.

With what we have seen with the Pats’ improvement this year, and the expected FA influx and draft additions, that schedule doesn’t seem daunting to me.
Agreed here.

I fully anticipate a ferocious pass rush.. a more potent offense with additions at TE, WR,.. and of course other spots on the roster. The schedule doesn't seem all that worrisome either. The standard has been restored in NE Again.

I was never a Carter fan, didn't think a part-time WR/part-time CB merited that high a pick. Pats got the best fit of talent/need possible at #4 (though I did have Tyler Warren and Jalon Walker graded higher than Campbell).

Campbell's mental makeup is a perfect fit for Mike Vrabel.
