Draft strategy if we pick Carter

I'm not happy that they didn't address it in FA but it doesn't change the draft value. If Josh Simmons never gets injured than he'd be the no brainer at 4. And yes over Carter and Hunter. But he did and that sucks. It didn't stop BB from drafting Dominique Easley that year and that didn't turn out so well. At least that was a late 1st round pick.

Taking Carter or Hunter leaves us very vulnerable to missing on the top 6 OT's. We wouldn't be able to sit at 38 and pray, and I've seen several mocks where all 6 are gone in the 20's. The cost of moving up from 38 to at least 28 will be more than 1 third rounder, so it would almost wipe out the rest of our draft.
Great post. Is Trapilo with a RAS score of 9.00 really that much worse than the top 6 OTs?

Trapilo has played both right and left tackle throughout this week, though, and that's stuck out to scouts particularly well as it could mean that Trapilo is one of the most versatile offensive line prospects in this draft class.
Carter is a luxury. We have a dire need at OT, plus upgrades needed at other positions. Take the tackle at 4 if there's one we really prefer, or trade down a few spots if there's 2 or 3 we like equally.
I prefer BPA and having All Pros over projecting "dire needs". Pick Carter and Trapilo.

The only approach is if Josh/Marrone are sold on a 2nd tier OT prospect like Trapilo, Grant, Williams, Melton, etc.
Great comment. I am in the "sold on a 2nd tier OT prospect" because I think Trapilo is a 1B tier prospect. But I am not an expert.

LT is the only thing they should be focused on.
I prefer to focus on BPA and plan on taking 2025 and 2026 to fill all the holes. Long term All Pros are more important than a positional need in any single year.

Carter or Hunter/Trapilo/Kennard (Ezeiruaku)/Lequint is a great draft to me as opposed to giving up draft picks. Carter or Hunter/Simmons/Kennard is great too, but I don't think that will be possible (maybe possible if we trade Milton which I support).

At 4 yes I agree. It's when you consider the whole draft class there needs to be a focus.

Don't forget the Vikings only have four picks. I think they'd be happy to gain a 3rd.
I agree that MIN is an excellent target for a trade at 24. I'm nitpicking, but I think that we'd need to throw in our 4th.
